I was wondering if someone could answer a thouight I had out of curiocity. What is Non-Christians position on Christian miricales (both Catholic and Non-Catholic) such as Stigmata, Marian Aperations, Healings, ect.? Thanks and God bless.

I think that Christian miracles stem from the same things that non Christian miracles do. Some are psychological, some are natural but perhaps we don’t understand the cause of them, some are coincidence or even rather common occurances that people of faith “see” or assign religious importance to, and some are the divine speaking to the people in a “language” they will understand…oh, and some, unfortunately are probably hoaxes and frauds, either out of malice, jest or someone’s intention to increase faith in others, but resorting to false means.

Without faith which is the case for a non christian, they will not connect that miracle with God, they will go down the reasonable route, and if there is not reason currently available then it would be a mystery.

A few examples

Psychological and Scientifically if one concentrates enough and believes he is getting burned, not only will he feel that pain of burning but he will experience those burns, this is a very rare case but it has been proven scientifically, without any real explanation.

In our Catholic faith we have seen the miracles of stigmata on various occasions. We connect this miracles with our faith, but for the unbeliever they will go the reason method only and will determine that it was psycholgical with physical outcomes.

In psycholgy there is the study of why no matter who we are, where we come from, that we can come up with the same exact stories over a period of time, for example many cultures in different times and cultures came up with a flood story, same thing for Adam and Eve Story, different stories, different characters same theme, even our stories come out of older stories. Now for the unbeliever they see this, study this and take the reason route alone and are convinced that the study of psycholgy alone is the truth, that we just come up with stories and they all relate, forgive me I forget what this is called. But for me and my faith, through this study, my faith is strengthened because there has to be an ultimate mover of this.

If we take the Hindu example, then you’ll find that many Hindus are in fact (gasp!) believers in supernatural miracles. (Hindus do believe in God, after all.:D) From the Hindu perspective, God is able to do miracles through many different religious traditions, whether those be Hindu or non-Hindu. So Christian miracles? Sure, no problemo!👍

It’s interesting that some folks think miracles prove something.

Miracles prove that miracles happen.😃

miracles are evidence of themselves, not bad.

Unless they can be repeated then they can start to become subject to science.

Atheisits would say that until they saw it and then it was repeated it never happened. Not that it couldnt happen its just they need to see the evidence of it and they they can decide.

Evidence is a reasonable request.

Miracles are reported all over the world. And it’s reasonable to subject them to testing. And there is no need to be an atheist to ask for evidence. Non-atheists can be just as smart and discerning as atheists.
