For the record there are only a few things that could ever prevent you from being a priest, all of which could be rectified by meeting with the Vatican:Hello.
Some of you may have read another post about this in a different thread, but I am just worried about this detail of my life.
I am a 17 year old man, and I have previously taken part in pre-marital sex. I have repented, asked God for forgiveness, and sought to learn from my past mistakes.
So, I am just wondering, will I still be allowed to enter priesthood even though I made this mistake in my past?
Mental Insanity (well maybe the Vatican can’t fix that haha) Canon Law 1041 S 1
Apostasy/heresy/schism and the like Canon Law 1041 S 2
Attempting to marry someone while under vows and or promises even civially Cannon law 1041S 3
Homicide or Abortion 1041 S 4
Castration, Sterilization, Mutilation, and suicide (just fair warning if you kill your self you can’t still be ordained ) and attempting suicide 1041 S 5
Impersonating a Priest (Hollywood and Halloween don’t count but serious impersonation 1041 S6
Actively married 1042 S1
And not canonical but if you currently hold public office you can’t be ordained.
best book ever I read it like a hundred times I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is catholic if they wish to understand discernment of Anything!I recommend reading “To Save A Thousand Souls” by Fr. Brannen
