Let us keep everyone involved in the shootings today at NIU in our prayers…The victims, families, students, community, etc. May the Lord be with them all in their time of need!

niu.edu/index.shtml

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Praying

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

praying. :gopray:

and reading. all the violent things i’ve seen on the news lately, culminating with this, have led me to wonder why it’s all happening. despair, anxiety and violence are the rotten fruits of a godless world i guess. i think nietzsche was half-right: god is not dead, but we have killed him.

*O Divine Eternal Father,
in union with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit,
and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I beg You to destroy the Power of your greatest enemy - the evil spirits.

Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell
and chain them there forever!
Take possession of your Kingdom which You have created
and which is rightfully yours.

Heavenly Father,
give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I repeat this prayer out of pure love for You
with every beat of my heart and with every breath I take.

Amen*

Thank you for starting this thread. NIU is my alma mater. My sisters husband works there and was in lock down last I heard. I am devastated that this has happened. I just signed on to start this, but thank you for beating me to it. I want to add prayers for all the families of the students. So far 4 plus the shooter are dead. What a horrible experience! May God bless all of them.

Just another unfortunate example of what our young people go through in this evil culture/society. Praying for all who have died and are wounded. God have mercy on us all.

Praying this is within 100 miles of us.

Praying for all families.

Please pray for those who have been effected by the shooting at Illinois University. :crossrc:

Praying for those young adults, who have passed away, and all the students affected by this senseless massacre and, family and friends, for the whole country who mourn today.

I saw this on our South Australian news last night and was shocked…praying for those who died and for the injured. Praying too for America with her liberal gun laws…

What the media is revealing about the gunman is accurate. I work at NIU and met with him on a few occasions. I am troubled for his soul as this truly is not what I would ever have expected from him. When the name and picture was posted my heart dropped.

This is one of those suicidal situations discussed here at CAF where the Catholic position is good to keep in mind: Judgement belongs to God and God alone. He is the only one who knows Steve’s soul, heart, and thoughts in the moments leading up to and through this incident.

I pray that God have mercy on his soul and ask the rest of you to keep him and his family in your prayers along with those of the victims and their families. A truly senseless chain of events that I’m afraid will never be explained.

*For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

AMEN!!! I LIVE VERY CLOSE TO NIU,I’M JUST DEVASTATED.I will be including all on my rosary

The students that were killed have now begun to have burial services. I pray that their families can feel some strength in their relationship with God.

I know Steve’s girlfriend granted an interview with CNN I think and she was saying he was completely normal and she loved him. I think we need to pray for her because obviously he was not completely normal to be able to snap and do this premeditated murder/suicide. So she is at risk for some mental breakdown herself. I pray for her and her family also.

It is not about judging now, but praying for all of them. It is no doubt we should not allow mentally ill people to purchase guns, multiple guns. However, the ACLU would never allow us to pry that much into a person’s rights.

Yin Yang, I will also pray for you and the whole NIU community and all the people that knew Steve and the people he murdered. It must be so difficult right now for all of you.
