Bishop says politicians ‘may get aggressive’ over resistance to same-sex marriage
A Norwegian bishop has said the country’s clergy will no longer officiate at civil weddings, after the predominant Lutheran Church’s governing synod voted to conduct gay marriages in Norway.
Bishop Bernt Eidsvig of Oslo told Catholic News Service that he would have to seek permission from the Vatican, saying: “It’s clear we must distinguish our own Church marriages from others.

There must be some strange laws in Norway. I don’t think the Church has to take part in any marriage.

I’m in favor of same sex marriage (civil and those religions that accept it as valid) but I still think this is a great idea. It sets us apart from the rest. It would simply require a separate trip to city hall before or after the real wedding if you wanted the benefits and protections of civil marriage.
