This is quite a long story, but I will make it short as possible. A guy I knew from a University I used to go to 3 years ago or might be even 4 years (he used to stalk me in school), continues to harass me until this day. He would send me emails constantly, writing veryyy inappropriate and disgusting things in the emails, and lots of times they didn’t make any sense. I started to realize there probably is something wrong with him (mentally). I don’t know what it is, but he harasses me, and he googled my name and found my resume online (it was posted on a job site, but once I found out I deleted it because I didn’t know it was open to the public). Anyway, he found out where I work and showed up at my work a few months ago. It creeped me out, but I didn’t do anything about it, because I figured if he did one more thing I would just go to the police. He still would email me, but I guess I didn’t care about the emails as much, because I would just ignore them anyhow. Well, couple weeks later I walked into a store at the mall, and he walked in right after me and started harassing me. I told him to leave me alone, and walked away. When I walked out the store, he came after me again. I walked away from him quickly. I went straight to the police and made a report. So far I have made 3 police reports regarding his behavior. One of the detectives told me he sent him a letter in the mail and he had stopped for a week or so, but continued again. He would call my work every day, numerous times. Than, recently he called my house (I live with my parents and siblings). My mom answered and I told her the situation. I hadn’t told her about it, because my mom gets very worried and I don’t want her to stress or worry about it, because I am handling it anyway. Well, now she knows and she’s going to stress me out about it now, which I don’t need. I noticed he called my home phone again today… because I saw on the caller I.D. private phone calls, and I am assuming it was him. I am going to go to court to get a Personal Protection Order against him, but I don’t know if it will be granted to me, because as of now I just have his emails (numerous emails) as proof. I can get copies of the police records, but that takes awhile and they will charge me. I want to go as soon as possible. I just don’t know what to do, because I want him to stop calling my house , I don’t want my family to be bothered by this crazy person. Does anyone have advice for me??

Proceed bravely with every course of legal action available to you. Never discard any hard form of communication he sends to you, but rather keep them as evidence. But in any way you can block contact, do so. Like blocking his email. Even if he makes other accounts, it’s far easier to just add another address to a black list then it is to make another email address, even with all the free email services. What he is doing is very not right and I hope things get sorted out for you soon.

Thank you. I have saved lots of his emails for evidence, but my problem is not the email… it’s him calling my work and now he’s calling my house. I don’t know how to block that, and the police don’t help one bit. I feel like they wait until something very bad happens. I am hoping the court will grant me a PPO, and he will go to jail even if he just calls once, but I don’t know. I just feel so hopeless, especially because this guy probably has some sort of mental issue.:(

Does the phone company in your area offer a block number service? I know where I live you can pay for a call block feature to block select numbers from calling. That may be something you could look into. Also, Panasonic makes a phone that will allow you to block numbers directly from your phone and gives unwanted callers on your block list a busy signal. That could be another option.
Hopefully this is some help for you. I hope this all gets worked out for you quickly.
