🤔 No, I don’t think so. Surely the Church would never be “all for” civil unions, be it for opposite sex couples or homosexuals. Considering they are not sacramental marriage and encourage cohabitation and validate extra-marital relationships. Am I wrong?
Inasmuch as we’re not specifying a type of relationship akin to marriage, I think you are. After all, your standard would seem to prohibit roommates, no? And that kind of arrangement doesn’t do the things you’re positing…

I think we’re just in disagreement about the idea that civil-unions could include platonic relationships. I think the idea is silly, and Genesis315 gave a good example from the UK that shows that even the courts would probably side with that. Two friends don’t need a civil-union.
