Hi friend,
there is no passage in the Bible that directly states that God
will not answer our SPECIFIC prayer and instead give us something lesser
which HE THINKS we need.
There is no specific scripture verse that says that.
But that is a logical conclusion.
For example, if you ask God to help you win $10 Million in the Lottery for your
ticket purchase of $1 to the State Education Fund (as it is for in Florida’s Lottery),
God MAY, or MAY NOT, grant your prayer to win the Lottery.
Why may he NOT???
Because he knows YOU better than you know yourself, and He might know that
YOU, once you got $10 million dollars, would go nuts in your joy over your new riches, (even though YOU THINK YOU WOULD NEVER DO THAT), and forget all about him,
commit apostasy, fall into sin and worldliness, never repent (because now secure and rolling in money and luxury!!) and be Lost Forever and end up in Hell.
So, granting you a big GOB of money, even though you are desperately poor and think you need $10 million, would lead to your damnation, not your REAL good.
So, ask God for what you NEED instead. Sometimes, as in my case, we NEED a gift of a large amount of money from God to satisfy debts that we never knew we had.
So I am asking and asking him for this, and He KNOWS I need it and cannot satisfy righteousness without it, as I have no ability nor means to do so.
But I do NOT ask him for luxuries, like a cool expensive car, a big six bedroom house, gourmet food at all my meals, fine designer clothes, etc. I don’t need that stuff (nobody really does, by the way), nor do I want that stuff.
The history of ancient Israel is proof positive of what happens when a nation as a whole becomes VERY prosperous: it apostasizes from God (most members of the population) and becomes EVIL. Israel did this many times, and God sent the Babylonians in, in 587 BCE, and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple for it, and took the population into exile into Babylon. AMERICA is extremely prosperous generally, and with the prosperity BOOM following World War Two followed, VERY QUICKLY, a series of heinously WICKED laws: OUTLAWING prayer in American public schools, followed IMMEDIATELY by the LEGALIZATION of PORNOGRAPHY, followed IMMEDIATELY by the Sexual Revolution of 1966 and beyond, followed IMMEDIATELY in 1969 by the sudden and wildly successful GAY RIGHTS movement, followed IMMEDIATELY in 1973 by the LEGALIZATION across America, of ALL Abortions. And NOW, you are forced, when hired by a company, to be indoctrinated via Diversity Training, into hearing the praises of the homosexual lifestyle AND our Government, with an apostate Catholic hhs secretary leading the charge, is trying to FORCE the Catholic Church to provide abortifacient contraceptives to it’s employees. And it WILL NOT STOP AT THAT, either. Just watch and wait, it IS going to get MUCH WORSE for the Church here.
The gov’t IS, give it time, IS going to start ORDERING our Church to perform Gay Weddings (it IS going to happen, just wait. It won’t be TOO VERY long in coming, either), FORCE our church to provide same-sex domestic partner health and other benefits, etc., as long as over 50% of Catholics KEEP KNOWINGLY VOTING WICKED PEOPLE INTO OFFICE IN CONGRESS, SENATE, AND PRESIDENCY, as they have been doing in election after election after election.
It is not unpatriotic to say that America now, though prosperous despite the current bad economy, is an extremely wicked and apostate Nation, with most of the wicked laws being enacted by APOSTATE, Liberal CATHOLICS in Congress and on the Supreme Court ((Justice Brennan, a Catholic, heavily promoted the Supreme Court’s eventual decision to legalize abortion)).
So, Prosperity can lead to damnation.
A Prayer for personal GREAT PROSPERITY can, if answered, lead to your Eternal Death.
That’s one example of why SPECIFIC prayers may not be answered specifically in what you asked for: if you get what you ask for, you might throw away your salvation, and God KNOWS that in advance with regard to all individuals, as to whether that would be the case.
