@minks thank you so much, may God bless you for your generosity. And thank you everyone else for the advice, it’s appreciated. I will definitely be talking to the priest once I get there, I’ll keep the forum updated.

Good luck over seas! Pray the rosary everyday, don the brown scapular, and ask St. Michael to watch over you and pray for you. Hopefully the base you will be going to has a Catholic Chaplin. Talk with him about your situation.

OP, just in case it was not abundantly clear from the thread respondents, you do not have to go through the traditional RCIA route in order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation(and your first Communion). I was near a church with a poor RCIA program and knew the priest in the next town over and was able to meet him one morning each week; this was essentially my RCIA instruction, and I suspect you could do something similar. However, what I think only one person responded to…

DO NOT RECEIVE COMMUNION just because you are going into a battle zone/ or other dangerous situation.

First and foremost, welcome to the Catholic Church.
Secondly, thanks for your service to our country.
Go to Mass. Pray. Continue your journey towards becoming a practicing Catholic.
We, all, will pray for your safety and well-being! 🙏🙏🙏
