Hi,
Which protestant denomination doesn’t celebrate Christmas/Birth of Christ on Dec 25th?

I don’t know of a single denomination that doesn’t, but some non denominational churches don’t, based on the mistaken belief that it was an appropriation of a pagan holiday.

Historically speaking, the Puritans worked very hard to keep Christmas from being celebrated on December 25th, and punished people who didn’t treat it like a usual workday.

One argument that I usually see is, “We don’t know what day Christ was born, so it’s dumb to just make up a day and celebrate Christ’s birth without knowing what day it was, so we’re not going to celebrate the Nativity at all, because we don’t know the specific day that it was.”

You can try Googling “no church service December 25th” and see a cross-section of churches that cancel their services on December 25th. Occasionally, based on the Google results, it seems like canceling church services on December 25th when it falls on a Sunday is a thing, too.

I guess all of them in the UK, considering even the House of Lords are worried that ‘being Christian’ is soon going to become a hate-crime against Islam.

Sigh. I wish I was joking.

Ah well. Bury heads in sand and welcome in more Muslim immigrants right? Seems to be the liberal answer to any criticism against Allah these days.

I’m not sure if they’re counted as protestants, usually protestants consider them an aberrant form of Christianity along with Mormons.

But yes, they don’t celebrate Christmas.

In is my understanding from my sister-in-law that the Church of Christ typically does not celebrate Dec.25th as a religious holiday as birth of Christ.

12/25 is a good a day to celebrate the Birth of Christ

in the NE US; it is normally a dark, cold (perhaps snowy) day

the Feast of the Nativity brings joy

who knows or cares what the actual date is 🙂

One of my friends told me that her church didn’t celebrate Christmas. It was Iglesia Ni Cristo, it’s a church from the Philippines.
