I have committed the unforgivable sin Jesus talks about…it’s just not fair! If I repent, I still won’t go to heaven? I’m beginning to stray from faith because of this. What do I do? Am I doomed?

The only unforgivable sin is the one you won’t repent for, and I hear lots of repentance in your post. Go to Confession.

Read the story of the Prodigal Son. God is a loving father. He is always waiting to welcome you back.

It’s awful! It’s not my fault there was a triggering event that RUINED my faith! But it is my fault cause why do I think these thoughts? This is so upsetting I usually have blasphemous intrusive thoughts that the holy spirit is… i don’t even want to type it but I must… a demon and instead of rejecting it like normally I questioned if it is true or not. This is terrible! I used to have such great faith. Now I am a blasphemer! God will never forgive a blasphemer? I thought Jesus died for everyone who believes in him… I thought God’s mercy was greater than anything… I want to accept Christ! But I am not strong enough to. I’m severly mentally ill. What do I do??? I want forgiveness and for these thoughts to GO AWAY!!! But it is too late.

settle down, shipmate

it is all going to work out OK in the end…

I just want to go to Heaven. I need a sign from God telling me that I will, or I will never rest! I want to be with Jesus forever!

No need for a sign. He already gave you the sign of Jonah. Just go to Confession and relax. The priest will know what to do

But if I’ve done these terrible things thought these awful things Jesus says he will never forgive that??? Doesn’t that go against the bible??? If Jesus died for us all, why is there an unforgivable sin?

Unforgivable sin? You aren’t dead so no that’s literally impossible. Also, you keep saying it is about thoughts. Thoughts are rearely sins, much less mortal sins, much less unforgivable ones. Praying for you.

You need to get some counseling to help with your intrusive thoughts.

You’ve asked this same question in a number of posts, and received very solid answers about forgiveness. If you won’t or can’t believe the posters here, PLEASE talk to your priest asap! You are torturing yourself unnecessarily.

No you haven’t.

If you’re still alive and willing to repent, you have not committed the unforgivable sin.

The unforgivable sin is final impenitence and hardness of heart and rejection of the Holy Spirit’s prompting to conversion and repentance right up to the moment of death.

Since you’re still alive and want to repent, clearly you have not committed the unforgivable sin.

Make an act of Contrition, pray Psalm 51, and get to Confession ASAP. Refrain from receiving Communion until you get to Confession. Be at peace.

@justme02 - This is your answer.

In a book that is available online (audio version at Librivox) called Light and Peace by Dom Quadrupani, he says that sometimes we are attacked with temptations. As long as we resist and do not consent, we have not sinned. He says that people attacked in this way think they have sinned because the temptations were very strong, but that no matter how strong the temptation, we do not sin kit we do not consent.

Also, the unforgivable sin is final impenitence: when you die unrepentant. You are not dead and you clearly feel terrible, although you do not seem to have consented, so you have not committed the unforgivable sin.

When you notice this happening to you, start praying. If you have to, grit your teeth and force the words out through the temptation. The Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the prayer to St Michael the Archangel. Just keep praying them until the temptations go away.

If you pray each time you experience a temltafion of this type, they will stop, because what good is a temptation which leads the person to pray? They may come back after a couple of weeks, so pray again; do not feel discouraged because of this. Temptations are like bullies trying to get you to do bad things. And sometimes different temptations show up, so be careful about those.

I think the training for priests has changed or something-- in my limited experience, younger priests seem more helpful with this sort of thing than the cheery all-is-well type of older priest I have run into.

ETA: if you want links for the book, let me know.

So if you’re still alive, you have not committed the unforgivable sin?

If you’re still alive AND willing to repent.

If you’re still alive but totally hardened and not willing to repent, you may not have commited the unforgivable sin yet, but you’re in danger of committing it, since death can strike at any moment.
