What would be the correct thing to if one of us were unfortunate to find ourselves at such a mass?
It depends on how close the next parish is, and whether they will be having a Mass at a later time in the day that you could get to.

If it were the only Mass on offer that I could get to, I’d offer it up for the suffering souls in Purgatory. If not, I’d leave and go to Mass at a different parish, where I would offer my Holy Communion for the souls of the parishioners at the other place. (I would not skip Mass, however, and I wouldn’t make a scene on my way out - if anyone asked, I would simply state that I had become suddenly ill - which in such a situation would not be a lie - and make a quick and quiet exit.)

Maybe the priest should have gotten his supplies from Rome Depot 😃
:bigyikes:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Weeping with laughter. Can’t breathe. Whew!!

Except that I have an even better idea for the St. Joseph statue. Guaranteed results. A ten-foot Joseph that you bury in the middle of the road out front. When cars go into the resulting pot-hole, you go out and get the people out of the car, and while the rescue is on its way, you show them around your house and invite them to consider purchasing it.

😛 😃

Nice! I have no problem with fun and laughter. There is a time and a place for everything. Rome Depot? Good place for a little parody. Mass, recalling our baptismal vows? Bad time to make a joke.

If the worship of God is worthy of Him, it has dignity. These decadent abuses are an absolute scandal and an outrage. This sort of thing even makes you wonder whether Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (RIP) was right after all.

The Church has survived earlier disgraces - Fr Tetzel’s sales of Indulgenges that kick-started the Lutheran heresy, for example (“When the coin in the bucket rings, the soul to Heaven springs” was the strapline) and, as the gates of hell will never prevail, the Church will survive this.

However in my humble opinion it is our duty to oppose this mockery as strongly we can, in person with the offending priest, but not in public, to avoid greater scandal.

A resurrectifix??

Eddie Mac
Well, I think ressurectifixes and Christ-the-King crucifixes are okay, provided they are in a traditional manner (not ugly modernesque) and used sparingly (far less than the regular crucifix, which is the premiere Catholic image) but, they are not appropriate for the central image in a sanctuary. A real crucifix, with Jesus nailed to the Cross, is mandated by canon law.

This is just discusting. It only proves even more that the Traditional Mass is the only true Mass catholics should be attending. God Bless

I’ve always been taught to act in Church as you would if you were there in front of Christ as he was hangin on the Cross… for truly we ARE there at Mass.

truly sickening.

Yeah, they have a real crucifix on the altar, so technically they are abiding by Canon Law. Our bishop and priests are great, though, and they are working on getting this all changed. I guess there are structural concerns (it’s a very big, heavy, cross, and there are concerns the roof will cave in if they try and move things around too much. I guess the Church is looking a lot better than it used to (which frankly rather scares me…)

Do the rubrics for the EF specify that a super soaker can’t be used to bless the congregation with holy water?

I’m fairly certain that’s a non-issue since Super Soakers didn’t exist when the rubrics for the EF were written/created/whatever you want to call it.

So, technically, unless the rubrics go into detail about the materials used or the shape of the device used for aspersion, then a super soaker is licit to use in the Extraordinary form of the mass? 😉

Are you trying to imply it’s licit to use in the OF?? It’s not licit, or reverent, or anything of the kind.

More kids might want to come to mass that way 😃 and it could be used by a priest to wake up parishioners who are sleeping in their pews during his homily lol… armed and dangerous :hammering:

What a disturbing and, as one poster noted earlier, disgusting story!

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. :gopray2:

When I first saw this I thought it was just a joke. That makes me very sad 😦

I pray for that Priest and all who attended that “service”
