People give “death glares” to funeral processions too. People simply have no class and they think the world should revolve around them.
I would recommend a long stay in India for such folks. Processions here are much, much more of a big deal. Hindu funeral processions involve carrying the corpse in a palanquin, fireworks, and loud mournful music. 😦

I’m assuming it was all done officially via the local authorities, it was the local people themselves who I was wondering about. I would like to have known so I could have picked a different time to drive to the shops or make a bus journey if it was me.

That seems to me to make an assumption that they didn’t know. Some of them may not have been informed, but local authorities can and do notify residents especially about events that will impact their access to their homes. Depending on how and when it’s done, some people may fall through the cracks and that’s worth addressing and would seem to be the subject of the OP.

But lots of people just plain forget. I’ve done it myself in my town. “Aw crud, I forgot this is the day they’re paving Elm Street!” I knew they were doing it that day, I saw the signs and got an email about it through our local alert system. But I went on auto-pilot because I needed to go to the store for milk, and now I’m stuck in traffic. And I might be mad, but truth be told, I’m mad at myself - which is appropriate to let go when I am capable of it, because really, it’s fine. Just another reminder that I’m not as control in my life as I like to pretend I am most of the time.

Would that fall under “apropos” or “irony”? :hmmm:

The procession went by my house and I am sure I only heard through the church newsletter. I’m not blaming anyone I just think its important that parishes have a good relationship with their neighbors. Catholic churches in my area are struggling with numbers and there have been mergers. The hope was that the procession would remind people in the area that the Catholic Church is still present but I think with better notifications we would have sent a more positive message.

So I was coming home from work and there was a parade blocking my apartment building. My husband was home with my baby and he needed to go to work. I was trying to pull in and two separate people came over and yelled at me. I started getting angry and was like I need to get into my apartment, my daughters in there!" Anyway everyone was staring at me and it was embarrassing. Well in afterthought I was too mad at the time. But does anyone know the legality issues here? I almost called the cops, I was so mad. Usually there’s cops around but there was none in sight.
I’m sure others have the same reaction to pro life marches.
