Hi, so my girlfriend has been experiencing what I she explains as sleep paralysis. She says she can see the room around her without her eyes being open and can sometimes hear God telling her things. Last night she had one of those dreams and she said that God told her to get up and leave as in go home right away at 4 in the morning. She’s also had dreams where she thinks God has shown her her future husband and she couldn’t thinks it might not be me. She is basing a lot of her actions ad feelings off of what she is experiencing from these dreams and at the moment is “fasting” and will not talk to me because she says she knows that’s what God wants her to do so she has to fast from me until God gives her the answer she is looking for. I honestly don’t know what to think about any of this. I want to think this is all just in her head but I can’t shake the possibility that it’s something else. Does anyone have any advice? Oh one more thing, I am Catholic and she was raised Baptist but currently is confused about which church is the true church.

Research the hypnogogic state.

Our heads do strange things while falling asleep.

There’s not much you can do, just bear with her beliefs. You can’t change her mind for her.

GOD Bless, ICXC NIKA.

Why is your girlfriend over at your house at 4 in the morning? Seems a bit odd to me.

:ehh:

That was my question-if I understood the OP correctly. And if that’s the case, methinks the Holy Spirit might just be working overtime a bit on her lately-wake up calls and promptings and all.

Ok, the topic really isn’t about why OP’s girlfriend is sleeping over, and if she’s actually having these bizarre episodes then there’s something more immediate to talk about.

Sleep paralysis is common and causes all sorts of delusions. I myself have had it. What is deeply disturbing is that she seems to be letting these affect her normal life. Thinking that God is really talking to her and telling her things is bizarre.

Is this really the only reason she’s not talking to you? Are there any other reasons she might want to avoid talking to you? Are you a cause of stress or control in her life? If so, she might be using it to avoid you. If you are innocent, then this is extremely weird and you might want to ask her to talk to whatever religious professional she feels most comfortable with, Baptist preacher or otherwise. It’s seriously not an okay way to live your life, listening to delusions without proper supervision… it’s downright dangerous.

If a person is in the process of driving their car off the road and into the Grand Canyon, it’s not particularly charitable to not say anything to him about it.

There are some things that gain a higher priority than answering the OP’s question.

My :twocents:

I’ve been where He (possibly, if not likely) is, and I wish that someone would have said something to me at the time, but not a soul did.

Since I have very little knowledge of her and her background so I don’t know what the problem is and what you or she should do.

But if I were in your shoes, I would gently as possible make a break from her by letting the relationship die a natural death of neglect.

May God our Father give you grace and peace.
