I am on Day 10 of a 54 day novena, and last Friday I attended an All Night Vigil (granted, i did not stay all night but I spent a couple of hours in Adoration and prayer). I had one of the worst weekends mentally that I’ve had in a long time. I feel so despondent and lacking in faith. I feel like my faith should be growing, but I feel the opposite happening. I almost feel like giving up on my Novena (but I won’t).

I’m not sure what’s going on with me.

Oh that pesky evil one is trying to discourage you.Hang in there!🙏😉

A person may go thru a period that seems to go nowhere but that is the moment to remember to live by faith and not by emotion. When you are right, you are right and should continue in doing right. The graces come tho they are transparent. God always rewards our good actions and would never fail in that. So trust Him and continue in your good endevour.

I do not think it is uncommon at all for surprise difficulties to attack amidst a powerful prayer…

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

You should take advantage of this situation that God is giving you. A prayer that is said in times of spiritual dryness is more powerful than a prayer said during times of consolation.

Padre Pio said:
“A single act of love of God, made during a period of aridity is worth more than a hundred made with affection and consolation.”

Thank you all. I think I needed reassurance of what I thought was going on with me.

I appreciate your (name removed by moderator)ut very, very much!

Everyone’s right - hang in there, sweetie…

We’re all in this together, and God is with us. :hug3:

Keep this - from Ephesians 6 - in mind:

“Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground.” (NAB)

Thank you everyone. Last night, I also began a Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. I felt a real sense of calm afterwards. I’m continuing to try to push through this, and not give up!
