Not taking communion

I am a member of a parish where the vast majority of churchgoers receive communion every week. For several reasons (including the fact that I have sinned without going to confession), I won’t be receiving communion this week.
You can always go to the Parish rectory and ask to schedule an appointment for Confession. If there is a priest at the time, he may even have a few minutes right there to confess you. Never postpone confession unnecessarily, not so much for your own sake, but because Jesus suffers when you don’t receive Him.

However, if for some reason you attend Holy Mass and do not have a proper disposition (ex. in a state of mortal sin, or have not observed the Eucharistic fast) the best is to pray an Act of Spiritual Communion . The Lord showers us with graces when we do so. I think it’s because He misses us and wishes we had received Him.

lllj,

What a beautiful example you’re setting by not receiving until you get to Confession! :angel1:

You asked what you should do at that time.

Certainly a Spiritual Communion and prayer!!

As for kneeling or sitting, I was taught to kneel after Communion for as long as the Jesus is present on the altar - which would be until the priest has completed the purification of the vessels.

Our former priest used to kneel in front of the Tabernacle until the younger priest finished purifying the vessels - what great devotion he showed, kneeling on a marble floor at the age of 70.

God bless you on your journey to Him!
