I can’t recommend the Vicki Iovine book highly enough. I literally wore out my first copy of it and had to buy a second one.
TSB4, you can say whatever you want to me; I won’t take offense! Right now, things stink. You don’t know what the future will bring you. Neither did Job. You sound very tired of it all, of such a stressful situation with no end in sight; clearly, you need help dealing with it. But please don’t think that this is eternal, infinite, unchanging; that just isn’t true. You’re in our prayers.I mean this in the least disrespectful way. That all sounds silly to me now. I have been trying to find my way to The Lord for years. Praying. Trying to live the way he would want me to. (Honest, marriage, put my husband and family first. Saying no to terminations, saying no to birth control. Trying NFP.) and honestly, it has brought me heartache. My anxiety has been out of control lately and in honestly find no need to get excited about anything anymore. Everytime I do, a bill goes past due, or a baby is conceived, or panic disorder hits me so hard that I feel like **** even trying to get happy. Wake up and be excited for what? A possible pending eviction? A repoed truck? An unwanted pregnancy? Panic disorder?
I understand where you are coming from. While my story is different many of the frustraitions are the same. I’ve prayed to and seem to get no answer only more of the same. I wish I had an answer. I can only say good things happen to bad people and sometimes we just don’t have any options. On the bright side you have children who are hopefully healthy, are fairly healthy yourself and have a husband and a place to live those are things to be thankful for. I’ve been told when all is at it’s darkest hang on and remember what you do have. Prayers for us both that GOD will remember us in his Mercy some day.I wrote a post a few months back about wanting to place our fifth baby up for adoption. Although I have tried reasoning that everything will be okay, things are still the same. Steady employment still isn’t there for my husband, things are still wacky around here. organization wise and financial wise. For those who remember, I have panic and anxiety disorder. My OB refuses to try me on meds, so I’m in (unhelpful) therapy. I just cannot take it anymore. We can’t afford this months rent, or car note. Things are beyond stressful. My husband has been taking off for weeks at a time because he has work in our home state to help make ends meet. My stress level is through the roof. He still refuses any idea of placing the baby. I am at the end of my rope with everything, faith included. I really am at a point where I am ready to sign over my parental rights to him and be the one to walk away…
I love my kids, but i am stressed and its unfair to everyone.
I just wanted to update those who took the time to pray for me, find me resources etc… Also, to vent a little. Sorry I don’t have a happier update.![]()
I will be 28 years old this coming September.I don’t know how old you are, but, believe me, life looks different when you’re old enough to draw Social Security. When you are that old, there will be five grown-up people who care what happens to you!
I often wonder how the people with no children will manage. They will have no one to drive them to medical appointments. They will have no one to help them balance their checkbooks. They will have no one to go to the pharmacy and pick up medication. If they start losing their memory, they will be sitting ducks for all of the swindlers out there.
Time passes quickly. In another five years, all of your children will be in school. You will have a little time to yourself. The older ones will be able to help with the housework.
Please let us know how things are going. Did you call any of the agencies that people suggested would be good to call? If you did call, can you let us know what they said?
Have you read any helpful books? Which books did you read, and were they helpful?
The doctors probably don’t want to give you medication while you are pregnant, but I hope you can get some medication after you have the baby.
Are you able to drink milk? I have noticed that a glass of milk can calm my nerves. Calcium pills can do the same thing. Brewers yeast is also good, and it is easy to take if you can find it in tablet form. I believe that brewers yeast is the stuff they use to make beer, and it is loaded with B vitamins.
We just don’t know the future. This baby could be the one who will help you the most in your old age, just as you help your mother now.
So now, after this baby, I am considering having my tubes tied. I’m scared to get NFP wrong again. I love my kids, but in afraid I need to be responsible.TSB4 said:

Then that’s way, way too early to give up on everything. Lots of women start completely new lives in their 40s. My mom did, after raising three kids in poverty and fighting cancer–my parents opened a store and she started a totally new career as a retail goddess. I also have an auntie whose husband walked out abruptly after 19 years of raising a good-sized blended family together, who also started a totally new life–and that at 50. It took her a while to get started, too–she didn’t really hit her stride until probably her mid-50s or later (it took a long time to get over the divorce). She’s done very well.
I think it’s much more the rule than the exception for contemporary women to live several different lives.
