Nothing says woman quite like a dress

Those undersgarments don’'t work. They just bunch up between the thighs.

The only thing that helps chafing and is somewhat comfortable is leggings. But I’ve seen plenty of posts on CAF condemning leggings as “suggestive.” Hmmph.

The type I mean are soft. A cross between a half slip (remember those?) and shorts.

A couple of summers ago a blogger wrote about them for summer dress wearing.

My mom got me slips, half slips and camisoles when I wore dresses and skirts until I was 14 - 15 and didn’t want to wear them anymore.

I almost thought this was the Onion – a satirical article.
Certainly in the U.S., her timing does not apply. If she were living, my very traditional mother would be in her late 80s. And she wore slacks for housework my entire life. I’m not sure how the author thinks this was a 1980s trend.

Leggings are suggestive if worn with a blouse or top that leaves everyone seeing how skin tight they are but they are fine with a dress.

Not on this ole bod!
Ok, maybe I should say it is immodest to wear leggings with a waist shirt that exposes how tight they are, but its okay to wear leggings with a dress that covers how snug they are. Leggings remind me of old fashioned tights, okay under a dress.

I read the article and it’s nonsense as far as I am concerned. A woman can be very feminine in pants - it’s the behavior, not the “look” that matters. Pants are way more practical for many reasons and are warmer in the winter in cold climates.

I have a feeling you mean blue jeans are sexy, rather than feminine.

We call them “petti-pants”. When I do wear skirts, it has to be something my cotton shorts don’t show through, because life is too short to spend galded.

You can get petti-pants long enough that they’d have to be REALLY bunched up, but they are expensive, hard to find, and are often not sold in plus size.

My wife often wore jeans for casual wear. But she refused to ever wear jeans to Mass, even on weekdays, when half the women there were wearing jeans.

Where is DarkLight? 😃
Having an actual job!

I do usually wear dresses or skirts for work, but then switch to pants at home. I don’t much worry about being feminine or not, but I like velvety or swishy things.

On the other hand I definitely wore men’s clothes for more physical jobs (and often to Mass after since I had no way to change). Pants are more practical and for some reason you have to pay twice as much money to get sturdy fabric in the women’s department. And don’t even start on pockets!

Don’t even start on pockets in maternity pants! Where is a lady supposed to keep her Tums?

The lack of pockets in women’s clothing is a ruse by the purse industry to keep women buying purses and handbags.

It’s all a conspiracy.

I never buy bags but I have loads of them because I am the recipient of hand me down purses from friends and relatives. Some of them are quite expensive designer ones too.

So true! I’m a girl with really broad shoulders…I look ridiculous in some of the women’s t shirts…and no, I don’t have a big chest, I simply broad set shoulders/ribcage…I buy men’s shirts a lot…besides…they have lots of cool tv and pop culture shirts!

In the summer I often wear my husbands old boxers, one of these shirts and maybe some really funky socks (they have pizzas on them)…and yeah even the socks were bought in the men’s department lol! But no one would ever have known unless I tell them…I’m a shorter lady and dont’ resemble a man at all…with the exception of my ridiculously broad shoulders lol.
