For the period of one month from this date (4/1) there will be no discussion whatsoever of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) on CAF. Discussion may resume on May 2.

I suggest that all participants in this forum use that time to reconsider their approach to posting on this subject. If, once the suspension has been lifted, there is no improvement in posting patterns, the topic will be banned for the foreseeable future.

This thread will be left open for the time being to allow questions about the policy and clarification. Do not use the thread to discuss the rightness of the policy or the SSPX in general. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I certainly see why both bans became necessary.
Agreed. Perhaps we all need to cool down a bit and remember that whatever our disagreements, we are all members of the Mystical Body of Christ and should treat each other as such.

Are discussion about Fr. Francis Mary Stone still banned? Thanks.

It hasn’t been for awhile. I believe there’s a sticky on it.
If sedevacantism as a topic is banned, does that mean accusations of sedevacantism are also banned??? That would be GREAT!

In all fairness, this begs explanation.

I thought that the big push in the church today is “ecumenism”. How come we can talk about everyone but those who follow the traditions of the church just as they have been followed by popes, bishops, saints, martyrs, and doctors of the church for nearly two thousand years? How come the SSPX is taboo? Do some feel threatened by the truth?

My dear sister, look at what you wrote. If the SSPX is the “truth”, then you are saying in a backhand way that the non-SSPX (i.e. the Pope and the Bishops that choose not to disobey him) are the “lie”. Can you now see why this topic is banned? It is these sniping comments that tear at the Body of Christ like the whips of the scourgers.

Yes, I see your point, and how it can be taken by such as yourself. However, those of the SSPX do nothing more than follow the doctrines of the church just as they have always been followed for centuries, therefore, I say to you, that my comments and questions were meant only as a sincere query backed by honesty and the truth, and yet as always, this simple and honest query is met with derision, proving as usual to be a true thorn in the side of those haters of tradition. Simply put, the truth never changes, and will eventually overcome any suppression.

Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos recently said (from what I saw of an interview aired on EWTN a weekend or two ago) that the problem wasn’t with the faith of the SSPX folks - I think that’s what she was referring to - the faith as practiced by the SSPX folks, not the episcopal concecrations themselves. But hey - we can’t discuss this!!!

Agreed, but we can pray for unity, charity and understanding on all sides. May I respectfully ask that everyone who wants to post on this topic for the next month say a Hail Mary instead?

So, who couldn’t play nice and ruined it for the rest of us?

I guess the discussions became overheated and got out of hand, so I can understand the topic’s suspension, but it is rather regrettable.😦

I have followed a very recent thread here, and I must say charity was one of the last virtues on the minds of those on both sides of the issue. So I declined to take part in the exchange, as I was sure I would of been attacked and or slandered as well. Very un-Christian behavior was witnessed to say the least.🤷

SSPX and Indult-TLM Catholics are two groups that are so close, yet so far apart it would appear. But I hope the topic returns, and the threads can be more intensely moderated in some way.

Reminder:

This thread is not the place to discuss the SSPX or to debate the wisdom of the temporary ban. If those attached to discussing the SSPX on CAF wish to see it remain a topic of discussion, it would be helpful for them to demonstrate a spirit of cooperation with this temporary cooling-off period. Thank you.

The SSPX is currently “taboo” on this board because members have demonstrated an inability to discuss it calmly and without threads dissolving into flame wars. (This is why the topic of sedevacantism has been banned.) Out of a desire to continue to allow the SSPX discussions on this site, a temporary cooling-off period was imposed. It is hoped that once the discussions resume, those who wish to discuss the SSPX will remember that doing so requires that the discussions remain within the parameters of CAF’s rules.

Okay. Thank you for the explanation.
