South Bend, IN – The controversy at Notre Dame University where the Catholic school gave an honorary degree to pro-abortion President Barack Obama and allowed him to give the school’s commencement address apparently didn’t hurt ND president John Jenkins’ standing.

We have like fifty threads on this. Just shows how important it is. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?! One of my good friends goes to Notre Dame. I wonder what the sentiment in the student body is?

For the most part, that they were honored to have the President of the U.S. speak at commencement. And, I doubt most of them really have any informed and vested interest in who the president of the university is (think about it…for those of you who went to college…when you were there, was the president of the university a significant part of your college experience?).

I don’t understand why the Bishops even bother with things like letters of protest; it just makes them look foolish and uncommitted. If they really, truly felt this behavior was offensive they could take all the “Catholic” anything out of that school. But they don’t.

Kind of like telling a teenager not to have sex outside of marriage and then handing them a condom “just in case they do.”

Catholics are never going to fix this unless our Bishops get their act together, and they know it.

What were they thinking honoring Obama, and why are they standing by it?!?!?!

just listened to some ND fans grousing about their team’s blunders last Sunday and conclude it is time for the admin to reconsecrate the university to Our Lady and return in all aspects of governance and practice to Catholic values, then maybe we could see this team turn around. will suggest such a campaign to the alumni
