The real Notre Dame scandal is that Catholics will not accept Christ’s challenge to act as salt and light. I hope and pray that Catholics will give a witness of love, not condemnation, that will make the hardened heart of Barak Obama and his ilk converted. Love conquers all. This is a little kid who was abandoned by his alcoholic egomaniacal dad, and dumped on granny while mommy went to fulfill herself in grad school. Is there any wonder that this man, while in Illinois, would not vote to spare the life of those tiny souls who are born alive after an attempted abortoin? He has never known unselfish, patient, forgiving love. The commencement address at Notre Dame may be the last opportunity to so intimately witness to him of Christ’s love. May we do so. This is a good intention for which to use our weapons: prayer; fasting; almsgiving. May we do so.

Blessed Virgin Mary, pierced with a sword of sorrow that the thoughts of all may be revealed, expose all thoughts, cleansing them in the fire of love which is your Son, Jesus Christ’s Sacred Heart. AMEN
 
You believe the U.S. President is a kid? Because Moses was raised without his parents was he just some “little kid” as an adult? Do you like to refer to people who are not raised by their parents or in single parent homes as “kids”? Also how do you know what any other human being has experienced? Has God inspired you with omnipotence? I’m reminded of the golden calf when I hear you speak on behalf of the “godly” and speak as anything but.
 
I have little patience for the man and no sympathy, though as our president I do pray for him.

And I’m furious with Notre Dame; hopping mad. How dare they take the name of Our Lady and then drag themselves through the mud? Why, every time you turn around there’s another disgrace coming out from that university. They’re not even Catholic; they should be made to change their name.

My father, an alumni and football enthusiast, God rest his soul would be rolling in his grave…

Will not Catholics, who have mutely witnessed mega-scandal in their passive observation of the upwards of three billion dollars in hush money and untold scarred children grown to troubled adults be about the business of mountain moving? Love conquers all.

Christ ate with sinners, prostitutes and loathsome men who collected taxes for the occupying Roman army. Christ recognized the deadly danger of abused and neglected children. If the salt is not savory, it will be thrown out. “Depart from Me, I never knew you.” Sleeping through the mission of Christ’s Church on Earth, the Church Militant? Stop preaching hate to the choir and start living the love.

Most merciful, Sacred Heart of Jesus, we throw ourselves on Thy mercy. How hardened are our hearts. This was prophesied. Even so, Good Shepherd, lift up Thy sheep in the might of Thy love, transform us, and banish the growing coldness of hearts afar off from us, all for Thy honor and glory. AMEN

AMEN!!!

Notre Dame for what it is doing to honor the most pro abortion President the U.S. ever had is scandalous. The University should be stripped of its Catholic identity. I highly doubt the President will change his views. It would make him an outcast in his party.
 
There are **Catholics **and then there are catholics…

I highly doubt the Pres is going to stand up and speak on aboration at a Catholic College. Please bear in mind…although I disagree with aboration and I think and know it’s Murder, plain and simple.

Just maybe someone at that college, (well really several someones) should share all kinds of information with the Pres while he’s there. Now is the time to witness to the man…change his heart…he’ll be in The Catholic Woods now.

We can’t change the fact that he was invited…but dang since he was…Preach to the man…when will Catholics get another chance like this?

What on earth are you talking about? The sex abuse scandal has about as much relevance to the topic at hand as the price of tea in China. Really, get a grip.

And who, pray tell do you think is going to do this? They’re all radical liberals, that’s why they invited Pres Obama in the first place.
 
Jesus did meet with sinners (tax collectors, adulterers, etc…,) but as others have already pointed out, he did NOT bestow honors on them for their bad behavior. The argument that Notre Dame University should meet and “dialogue” with this notoriously pro-abortion president is specious indeed. What are they going to say to him? "You ought to re-think your entire platform, and we’re giving you this award because we don’t agree with you? This is scandal–plain and simple.

Our gracious pope had the right idea–nobody would argue that he was correct to meet in private with Pelosi–or Obama for that matter. This has infinitely more in common with Jesus eating with known sinners than the fallacious argument to which some posters have subscribed.

I doubt the pope gave Pelosi or Obama an “atta boy” for their truly egregious views, not to mention voting records, on abortion. If they were looking for some kind of affirmation (a la Notre Dame,) it seems they came away empty handed–despite what their spin doctors had to say.

Do you think someone will get close enough to sit and talk to him about his beliefs? Do you think that before he accepted the invitation certain peramaters have to be met. Certain people can not ask him certain questions or he can not meet with certain people or groups? It’s not like anyone there can go up to him to meet and greet. He will be shielded and protected.
