Nov. 25 - Wk 1 - Day 5: "Seeking True knowledge of self"

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Blessings on this Feast of Christ the King! The Gospel speaks “volumes” to us, as we prayerfully listen:

Pilate said to Jesus,
“Are you the King of the Jews?”
Jesus answered, “Do you say this on your own
or have others told you about me?”
Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I?
Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me.
What have you done?”
Jesus answered, “My kingdom does not belong to this world.
If my kingdom did belong to this world,
my attendants would be fighting
to keep me from being handed over to the Jews.
But as it is, my kingdom is not here.”
So Pilate said to him, “Then you are a king?”
Jesus answered, “You say I am a king.
For this I was born and for this I came into the world,
to testify to the truth.
Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” (Jn 18:33-37)

Jesus tells us:

"My kingdom does not belong to this world.

If my kingdom did belong to this world,
my attendants would be fighting
to keep me from being handed over to the Jews.
But as it is, my kingdom is not here."

Do we hear His Words deeply enough, prayerfully enough? Do we continually remember: we are in the world but NOT of it!. His Kingdom is within our hearts if we will make sure He is the Master and the King and that our “self” is not ruling us. Whom do we love more? We can only serve One!

Recently reading the letters of St. Louis de Montfort, I noticed his salutation was most often:

“May the perfect love of God reign in our hearts!”

Come Holy Spirit! Jesus we trust in You! Mary Mother of the Church, pray for us. St. Joseph, St. Louis de Montfort, all you Holy Saints and Angels, especially our Guardian Angels, pray for us.
