Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today I’m posting a link to the Bishop’s letter of approval for the apparitions to the three schoolgirls, teenagers in the little town of Kibeho in Rwanda 15 years before the terrible genocide there in 1994. However, before I do, I also want to explain again, as I tried to do in my post on “Getting Ready for Advent” (see HERE) this Feast of Our Lady is a particularly appropriate day to precede and help us understand Mary’s role in God’s Plan for the First Coming of Christ as well as for His Final Coming.

Some may have noticed that in the Daily Mass readings before Advent we hear of warnings. The Book of Daniel describes some mysterious visions which Daniel was given. Today’s Gospel clearly gives a warning:
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy
from carousing and drunkenness
and the anxieties of daily life,
and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.
For that day will assault everyone
who lives on the face of the earth.
Be vigilant at all times
and pray that you have the strength
to escape the tribulations that are imminent
and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Mary’s words at Kibeho, as at Fatima, and in Mary’s earlier apparitions have contained warnings and have urged us toward penance and the ongoing conversion of life to which we have been called. Baptism is the beginning of our spiritual life, and it is also the beginning of our spiritual battle against evil in the world and in our own spirit, so easily tempted toward evil. The Bishop’s Letter acknowledges that and can be read HERE

God willing, I hope to post more on Our Lady of Kibeho during the Advent season beginning tomorrow. Mary, most Holy Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us. Mary, you revealed yourself at Kibeho as “Mother of the Word”, help us to listen to your Son Jesus Who is the Word made Flesh within your womb. Help us to be faithful to the Holy Spirit as you were on this earth, that we may hear the Truth and do the Truth we hear.

Mother Mary is a large part of my conversion to the Catholic church. I am interested in learning more about all of the approved apparitions, and I have studied a few. Is there somewhere I can read more about this apparition without having to buy something (I noticed the one link in your other thread led to Amazon) and is there anything more you can tell us about it? Also, do you have any information about the recently approved apparition in the Philippines or other lesser known apparitions of the Holy Mother? Thank you and God bless you and yours.

Here is a website with brief history about Kiebho.

I have not heard of any apparation in the Phillippines, but until 3 years ago I had not known about Our Lady of Good Help, which was an appearance in Wisconsin.

Thank you Jedi. I don’t know much about the apparition in the Philippines, other than it was in Lipa around 1948, and that Mary said that she was the Mediatrix of all grace. I have found a few things about it online, but most of what I have found are opinions and speculation. The best that I can gather is that the bishop of the region at that time dismissed it, but it sounds like the current bishop recently said that it was genuine. I will check out your links. I have heard of the apparition in Wisconsin, but I don’t know much about it. Thank you for sharing about it too.

Dear new calling,

Sorry to be late in responding, but it was a busier weekend than I expected it to be. I’m grateful to jediliz for posting the link which gave you a brief history of the Apparition of Mary to the three schoolgirls in Kibeho.

A good source for Approved Apparitions as well as those which have not yet been approved or those still being studied is provided at the website of the University of Dayton. They do excellent Marian research. See HERE

I checked their list of apparitions which was updated last year and did not see anything recently reported in the Philippines. It did list a negative decision for an alleged apparition in Lipa, (Philippines) to 1 religious. It is best to await a statement form the local Bishop – that is the usual procedure before an apparition is approved and the Bishop usually organizes a commission to study the apparition before he makes any judgment. If the next Bishop chooses to look at it a second time, you may want to look for a new statement from him.
