Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today I’m posting a link to the Bishop’s letter of approval for the apparitions to the three schoolgirls, teenagers in the little town of Kibeho in Rwanda 15 years before the terrible genocide there in 1994. However, before I do, I also want to explain again, as I tried to do in my post on “Getting Ready for Advent” (see HERE) this Feast of Our Lady is a particularly appropriate day to precede and help us understand Mary’s role in God’s Plan for the First Coming of Christ as well as for His Final Coming.
Some may have noticed that in the Daily Mass readings before Advent we hear of warnings. The Book of Daniel describes some mysterious visions which Daniel was given. Today’s Gospel clearly gives a warning:
God willing, I hope to post more on Our Lady of Kibeho during the Advent season beginning tomorrow. Mary, most Holy Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us. Mary, you revealed yourself at Kibeho as “Mother of the Word”, help us to listen to your Son Jesus Who is the Word made Flesh within your womb. Help us to be faithful to the Holy Spirit as you were on this earth, that we may hear the Truth and do the Truth we hear.

Mary’s words at Kibeho, as at Fatima, and in Mary’s earlier apparitions have contained warnings and have urged us toward penance and the ongoing conversion of life to which we have been called. Baptism is the beginning of our spiritual life, and it is also the beginning of our spiritual battle against evil in the world and in our own spirit, so easily tempted toward evil. The Bishop’s Letter acknowledges that and can be read HEREJesus said to his disciples:
“Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy
from carousing and drunkenness
and the anxieties of daily life,
and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.
For that day will assault everyone
who lives on the face of the earth.
Be vigilant at all times
and pray that you have the strength
to escape the tribulations that are imminent
and to stand before the Son of Man.”
