Dear Imma,

My thoughts are simply to thank God for everything He allows. We may not understand why He permits certain things, but we can trust Him to work ALL things unto good. I’m about to post the Pope’s Address given on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception which may help you further; it will be a new post, entitled “Mary Immaculate teaches us to Listen to God Who Speaks in Silence”. 🙂
THIS post I must read! Do we stay on this thread for this? (Not sure how it works…)
I love this answer …thank God for everything! How simple! Perhaps not easy though!!! LOL 🙂

Blessings,
Jo Mary

Today is the Feast of St. Juan Diego, the humble Indian to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared. I love her words to him: “…Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Are you not in the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else you need?” Let us remain forever in the crossing of her arms. 🙂

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
St. Juan Diego, pray for us.
I love the story of Juan Diego as well, it’s deeply consoling for me. My favorite image when considering Mary as my mother is to imagine she is wrapping me in her cloak, hiding me from the world, and keeping me safe and warm. I can even imagine the weight of the fabric. It’s a deeply consoling meditation for me.

Dear Mary, bring me to your Son, Jesus!

Dear Bee Sweet,

I read somewhere that as long as you attended the vigil Mass on Saturday, that suffices to fulfill the Holy Day’s Obligation for the Immaculate Conception. Your participation in the Mass today on Sunday is fulfilling your obligation for Sunday Mass. Although I can understand your disappointment at not hearing the specific readings for the Feast to honor Mary, the Mass is of infinite value every day. Every reading from scripture is precious and beautiful for All Scripture is the Inspired Word of God for us.

Actually, as I read the Readings for Mass today, I was blessed and thought of Mary again.

Mary is a sign of the New Jerusalem, spoken of in the First Reading for this Second Sunday of Advent. I also thought of all those who are consecrated to her as I read the words of St. Paul in the Second Reading. When I read the Gospel of John the Baptist coming to announce the Baptism of repentance in preparation for the coming of Jesus, I thought again of our Consecration as a perfect renewal of our Baptism into Christ and our preparation for His Final Coming.

I’m happy that you prayed your Act of Consecration. It is always to Jesus through Mary, yet Their Pierced Hearts are so united in love that we consecrate ourselves to both and find ourselves loving them both more and more. How well the prayer, “O Jesus Living in Mary”, expresses this:

MariaChrist thank you for sharing I never knew Our Holy Mother said that (Our Lady of Guadalupe), that is awesome! I have done both Consecrations, and I am always drawn back to them. I praise God in giving us St. Louis de Montfort and St. Maximilian Kolbe to understand Our Mother Mary better!

Thank you for your witness to them(the saints) and to Jesus and Mary.
In Mary and Christ
God Bless you

Dear Jo Mary,

The new post on the Pope’s words would be the better place to say more, but thanking God for everything is perhas worthy of another new post too. I would leave this one since the Nov. 5 journey is now ended. God willing, I’ll start another thread for Consecration on Mar. 25 🙂

Dear BeeSweet,

It seems to me that Mary appears to children and to the “childlike”. St Juan Diego was somewhere in his fifties, I think, when Mary appeared to him, but his words to her are like a child to his Mother. The accounts are truly beautiful to me and the message of “Motherhood” given at Guadalupe is needed so urgently today! Our world is in such confusion – how it needs Mary, the Star of the New Evangelization to lead all to Jesus, her Son and our Way, our Truth and our Life!

May we be always “totus tuus” “All Yours”, Jesus, through Mary. May we follow You as Mary did and lead others to you as she continues to do. Amen.

Just one more thought: Our meditation needs to lead us to action, also. We need to share the consolation we receive with others. Our consolation is not given to us only for ourselves. Perhaps you are already doing that, but I wanted to add it for anyone who reads your post to be sure that no one would miss the fact that our Love, like God’s must go toward others.

Dear De_Montfort,

The story of Our Lady and her relationship with dear St. Juan Diego is a very touching one to me. I believe the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe is essentially one of “Motherhood”. For more on Our Lady of Guadalupe, whose Feast we celebrate on Dec. 12 see HERE and also HERE
