Novena of Reparation for Ireland

Hi Guys,

Next friday I’m starting a novena to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. As you all undoubtedly know, Ireland finally fell on the 25th May 2018 as the last European country to legalise abortion. That horrendous day is seared into my memory and I think of it every day with sadness, as it was the final step for an ancient nation on its long march to apostasy.

With the first anniversary coming up, I thought it might be a good idea to offer a novena of reparation to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. If you would like to join me next friday, here is the prayer.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, animated with a desire to repair the outrages unceasingly offered to Thee, we prostrate before Thy throne of mercy, and in the name of all mankind, pledge our love and fidelity to Thee.

The more Thy mysteries are blasphemed, the more firmly we shall believe them, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!

The more impiety endeavours to extinguish our hope of immortality, the more we shall trust in Thy Heart, sole Hope of mankind!

The more hearts resist Thy Divine attractions, the more we shall love Thee, O infinitely amiable Heart of Jesus!

The more unbelief attacks Thy Divinity, the more humbly and profoundly we shall adore It, O Divine Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy holy laws are transgressed and ignored, the more we shall delight to observe them, O most holy Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy Sacraments are despised and abandoned, the more frequently we shall receive them with love and reverence, O most generous Heart of Jesus!

The more the imitation of Thy virtues is neglected and forgotten, the more we shall endeavour to practice them, O Heart, model of every virtue!

The more the devil labours to destroy souls, the more we shall be inflamed with desire to save them, O Heart of Jesus, zealous Lover of souls!

The more sin and impurity destroy the image of God in man, the more we shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Spirit, O Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy Holy Church is despised, the more we shall endeavor to be her faithful children, O Sweet Heart of Jesus!

The more Thy Vicar on earth is persecuted, the more will we honor him as the infallible head of Thy Holy Church, show our fidelity and pray for him, O kingly Heart of Jesus!

O Sacred Heart, through Thy powerful grace, may we become Thy apostles in the midst of a corrupted world, and be Thy crown in the kingdom of Heaven. Amen.

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, living tabernacle of the Divinity, most Sorrowful Mother, I offer you my love and fidelity and my firm desire to make reparation for the blasphemies and offenses which are unceasingly offered to you and which so offend your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Mother, Queen of Heaven, Queen of Ireland, have pity on us Thy children and come to our assistance, reign over us gentle Queen, once more!

Saint Patrick, Pray for us
Saint Brigid, Pray for us
Saint Colmcille, Pray for us
All the Holy Saints of Ireland, Pray for us
All the Holy Saints and Angels in Heaven, Pray for us

Just a small correction, Ireland is not the last country to “fall”, we can count Poland as the main prolife european country.

Poland has had effective abortion on demand for years. Abortion is available there (like Ireland) under pseudo restrictions such as " a woman may procure an abortion if any form of her health is threatened", thus a desperate lady is able to claim that her mental health is threatened by the pregnancy. The law is so slack that most doctors do not report the distribution of abortion pills and thus are counted as “illegal abortions”, when they are, in fact, performed by certified doctors operating within a brazenly open network.

Abortion has been available in cases of rape and for “medical reasons” since 1932. Around 200,000 abortions are committed in Poland every year.

Sadly, Poland is not the great Pro Life nation we often hear about. Most of the fluster about Poland’s abortion laws come at the back of Media efforts to have the law liberalised even further.

are you from Poland?

You are right that there was a law before in Poland that was very liberal, and it was overturned recently into a more restricted version.
You may be right, perhaps there is a medical underground network for abortion.

yet I think yours statistics of 200 000 abortions per yer is from the old law… I have read them, but for something like in 1980’s… I see no way a law that allowed for medical reasons only (mother+child) have such a high level (same number as in France, and this country is much more populated than Poland and the law permits all demand as long as it is during the 1st trimester o if medical reasons is advanced until the birth).

and the european court of human rights have already stand against Poland law inat least one case when a woman was denied a abortion. So the law perceived in Europe as against human right.
