I am looking for a novena prayer in honor of Our Lady’s Feast of the Assumption. They handed one out at church which is the Hail Holy Queen prayer with this added to the end:

Almighty and eternal God, you took the holy virgin up into the kingdom of heaven after she had heard the word of God and kept. We ask you to make us, your servants, always intent on the things which are above so that we may come to share in her glory. We pray thorough Christ, our Lord. Amen

I guess I am looking for more prayer? or a spot for intentions?
Shouldn’t there be more to this? I have not done many novena’s in the past but I would like to. Is there a site to read up on the proper way to do a novena?
Thanks for any help.

You may pray the Hail Holy Queen for nine days, and on the ninth day ask Mary to obtain for you the grace of never leaving Jesus.

Here’s one:
Mary, Queen Assumed into Heaven, I rejoice that after years of heroic martyrdom on earth, you have at last been taken to the throne prepared for you in heaven by the Holy Trinity.
Lift my heart with you in the glory of your Assumption above the dreadful touch of sin and impurity. Teach me how small earth becomes when viewed from heaven. Make me realize that death is the triumphant gate through which I shall pass to your Son, and that someday my body shall rejoin my soul in the unending bliss of heaven.
From this earth, over which I tread as a pilgrim, I look to you for help. In honor of your Assumption into heaven I ask for this favor: (Mention your request).
When my hour of death has come, lead me safely to the presence of Jesus to enjoy the vision of my God for all eternity together with you.

It’s a wonderful book of novenas – I highly recommend it! 🙂
(Also, it has other prayers for the Assumption of Mary. Let me know if you’d like them and I’ll post them too.)

God bless you! 🙂

Any info on what a fasting novena is?
Nine days of fasting?

Isn’t that what the apparition at Medjugorje recommends?

I’ve heard of fasting and prayers for nine days, but not just fasting. Penance is always united to prayer.
