I have noticed that when I pray about a particular situation to get better or for someone else’s bad situation to get better, they all turn a lot more worse than it is and I have experienced tension build up. When I pray to stop being bullied, the worse happens I get severely bullied or my communication with others turns so awful. It happens every now and then. I wasn’t so close to my faith before that I hardly even prayed, but now I do. Praying too much is not bad at all. I try as much to be positive and focus only on doing good and right in life. These experiences are quite unusual and weird and I often wonder if anyone has the same experiences as I do. I just feel so puzzled. What does it mean to go through this? Life is not perfect, but I always seem to encounter so much negativity than positivity. I used to be so afraid that I would stop, but I realized that when life gets harder and things are just too overwhelming and super stressful, our faith is being tested. I still pray despite these experiences and I will never give up.

Hi! I have not experienced that yet (as far as I can tell), but what I can tell you is to just keep praying and trusting God 🙂 He must have something in mind 🙂

Faith gains the answer to prayer.
If you pray without faith, you are just using words.

All through the bible, Jesus said; “Your faith has made you well. May it be done for you according to your faith. Do you believe I can do this?”
The size of the miracle is based on the size of your faith.

In the storm in the boat,.Jesus quietened the storm with a word, and marvelled at the apostles lack of faith to pray for safety with conviction.
Because; “Whatever you ask the Father in My Name, and believe you have received it, you then have received it.”

In Nazareth Jesus was amongst His neighbours. They had no faith in His ability to heal, as they saw him as Joseph’s son, a carpenter. “And He did no great deed there, except for heal a few sick people, and Jesus marvelled at their lack of faith.”

Lack of faith blocks God.
True Faith where you believe your prayer is answered is where the miracles happen.

Jesus words to Jairus: “Just believe and do not doubt, and all will be well.” “If you have faith, all things are possible to him who BELIEVES.”
“Jesus told them, 'Whoever has even the faith the size of a mustard seed, could say to that mountain, ‘Uproot yourself and be cast into the sea,’ and it would be so.”

What Jesus was saying was; “faith is belief your prayer has been granted”

Obviously little hiccups happening are to test, do you have faith now, like when the storm hit the apostles boat, are you going to have faith like Jesus to stop the storm, or give up like the apostles.

I do have deep faith, and I pray from the heart always, never mumbling words and rushing into praying. And I always never forget to thank God. These uncontrollable things happen and I just can’t explain it. I feel I am a truly very vulnerable person and I do think in some way that the devil tries to get his way to ruining the lives of people. There is really nothing I can do, but continue to have faith, belief, and trust. And continue fighting the battle between good and evil.

Hello Sunsetmemories,

I also went for many years questioning the usefulness of my prayers. I will remember you in my prayers tonight.

Perhaps it might help to pray with someone else or to ask others to also pray for you?

God bless.

Don’t ever give up praying. That’s exactly what the devil wants you to do! He wants you back where you were. But Just remember. “Nothing is going to happen today that you and GOD together can’t handle.” HE promised that. It has happened to me before but in the long run, God wins. TRUST God. Prayers and God Bless, Memaw

Do you pray the Rosary? If so, persist. If not, you could start! Also, pray within the holy hour of 3 to 4pm (especially praying/meditating upon the Agony in the Garden) - to explain: mt-of-olives.blogspot.co.uk …another poster on this forum reminded me of this devotion and gave the link provided.

I’m glad you’ve said that you have grown in your faith and prayer life and persevered - it’s possible that may be the main reason this is happening to you! The more opposition you’ve faced, the more you’ve turned to Him and grown in faith and prayer. My priest explained it once as a sort of “discipline” that an athlete or a musician undergoes - practice, practice, practice! So perhaps you are under discipline right now.

Other possibilities may be that you are not praying for His will; I’m ashamed to admit how long I prayed for something, convinced in my own mind that it was right, and after a very long time came to realize it was not (I was looking for a way to leave my marriage but thank God He healed me and turned my heart back to my husband instead).

Another may be the enemy’s attacking you because your prayers are being heard in ways you can’t see yet, and he wants to discourage you from continuing!

So my advice is to continue to persevere in prayer; ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and show you if you need to turn away from something; and continue to thank Him for staying so close to your side. ❤️

Hello there. You’ve had a lot of good answers from other posters about perseverance in prayer and faith and acceptance of crosses.

I have a different perspective that I hope may be helpful. When you pray about a difficult situation, such as bullying, what are you expecting the Lord to do? Are you expecting the situation to just go away? The reason I ask is that often it is our perception and behavior that needs to change. If you’re being bullied, perhaps it’s time that you spoke up about it and got help. Catholics are not called to be door mats, after all.

Case in point: I’ve been praying about my finances for about the last year and a half. My prayers have been answered in being introduced to Experian and Credit Karma and reading good financial blogs that helped me to change my spending. I also learned to do extreme couponing- the honest, ethical version, mind you. I learned where I could cut back. This year I’ve been selling some unwanted items on the internet which has been a huge blessing. Note that the Lord didn’t just send me money somehow: it was my behavior and understanding that had to change and He led me to the right information. If you knew me, you would know that this is pretty miraculous. 😃

May God richly bless you.
