I recall, years ago, praying a very long rosary novena and at the end of it, getting a job and a job that could possibly have turned into a good career if I had the foresight back then to do something about it.

I am going to have to revive this practice 🙂

I’ve been away from the Forum quiet a bit and recently found some follow-up questions to my reply regarding the Infant Jesus of Prague Novena. Yes, it requires the dedication of nine hours in one day - but not nine FULL hours. The novena (which takes about two minutes) is said once, every hour, at the exact same time…For example, if you start at 10:00 on the hour, you repeat the Novena prayers on the hour for nine hours…If you start at 9:15, then 10:15, 11:15, etc. You should plan the Novena for a day when you will be able to keep the exact schedule without interruption. It is disappointing to miss one and have to start another day. Dedication is important - but I’ve seen others get answers before completing the Novena.
  1. I had not heard that this Novena could also be nine consecutive days, as another poster mentioned. On Novena cards, I’ve only seen nine consecutive hours.
Here is a bit of history quoted from a prayer leaflet I found:
Created originally as a royal wedding gift, the statue is nineteen inches tall, made of wood and wax. It represents the Infant Jesus dressed in royal robes, wearing a crown. Later, it had been discarded in war and His hands destroyed. Found by a Carmelite, the statue was returned to a place of honor in the Carmelite Chapel in Prague.
Have mercy on Me, and I will have mercy on you.
Give Me hands, and I will give you peace. The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.

I grew up loving the Infant Jesus of Prague and still do, thanks to good example and education. His Image graces every room of my home. May he bless us all.

I am currently praying to the Infant Baby Jesus of Prague, please hear and grant my prayer. I will be forever grateful. Thank you for all the blessing that you have bestowed on me and thank you for everything that is to come. Please once again hear and grant me my prayer.

INFANT BABY JESUS OF PRAGUE NOVENA
aka The Storm Novena or The Flying Novena
(pray for 9 days or 9 hours straight)
Jesus, You said, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.” Through the intercession of Mary, Your holy Mother, I knock, I seek. I ask that my prayer be granted. Insert intention here
Jesus, You said, “All that you ask of the Father in My name, He will grant you.” Through the intercession of Mary, Your holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your name that my prayer be granted. Insert intention here

Jesus, You said. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass.” Through the intercession of Mary, Your holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted. Insert intention here
I prostrate myself before Thy Holy Image, O most gracious Infant Jesus, to offer thee my most fervant thanks for the blessings Thou hast bestowed upon me. I shall incessantly praise Thine ineffable mercy and confess that Thou alone art my God, my Helper and my Protector. Henceforth, my entire confidence shall be placed in Thee! Everywhere, I shall proclaim aloud Thy mercy and generosity, so that Thy great Love and the great deeds which Thou dost perform through this miraculous image may be acknowledged by all. May devotion to Thy Holy Infancy increase more and more in the hearts of all Christians, and may all who experience Thine assistance persevere with me in showing unceasing gratitude to Thy Most Holy Infancy, to which be praise and glory forever. Amen
Thank you, Infant Baby Jesus of Prague and the Sacred Heart of Jesus for granting my request. I will always be dedicated to You Dear Jesus and have faith that You will always be by my side. Your faithful servant Insert your name here

Nine prayers are better than one prayer and remembering to say the prayer every day is better than going days without praying or just saying a quick prayer.

The nicest thing I ever did was pray the Divine Mercy Novena Chaplet over nine hours in one day. I had never done a nine hour novena before, it is lovely because it takes over your whole day.

One time I prayed the Divine Mercy chaplets over nine days and each day the intention was for a different level of the priesthood. Pope, Pope Emeritus, Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, Monseigneurs, Canons, Priests, Deacons. But that is just me. Another time I prayed for the nine countries that most persecute Catholics to stop the persecution. Another time I chose nine people that I didn’t get on with although most of the time it is for the Holy Souls in Purgatory and the conversion of sinners.
