Novus Ordo ad orientem in New York City?

Hello,

I’ve always wanted to attend a Novus Ordo Mass celebrated ad orientem, but I know they’re not common. I’m planning on being in NYC this weekend, though, and was reminded of that old saying, “If you can’t find it in New York, then it probably doesn’t exist.” With that in mind, does anyone know where I might be able to attend an Ordinary Form Mass ad orientem?

I have not heard that novus ordo Masses at St. Patrick’s are celebrated ad orientem. I do not think they are. In fact, I do not think there are any ad orientem novus ordo Masses in NYC.

I would suggest the term Pope Benedict XVI used “ordinary form” in Latin.

Hey,
I might be a little late in response to this trend, but I am planning and working on an ad orientem mass in the Church Of the Holy Innocents in NYC. It is the only church in the city that celebrates the Extraordinary form every single day. With that in mind I hope that when you come back to the city, we have to mass in full swing.

I would suggest the term Pope Benedict XVI used “ordinary form” in Latin.

I would suggest “Novus Ordo” is hat the majority of people use when they are referring to the OF in real life.

But we are constantly having this debate on here.

That is a ridiculous question and I could take offense to that, but I won’t.

LOL. Show me where Pope Benedict XVI forbids the term “Novus Ordo” which His Holiness Paul VI used in its promulgation, calling it the Novus Ordo Missae and then we can discuss this further.

Until then anyone can feel free to call the Novus Ordo, which is a new order, a new order, which in Latin is Novus Ordo, and which is part of the official promulgation of the Rite.

OF is also acceptable since 2007, not required.

The Traditional Latin Mass Schedule at Holy Innocents in NYC (38th St b/w Broadway and 7th Ave) is:

M-F: 6 pm
Saturday: 1 pm
Sunday: 10 am

Certain special days have an additional morning Mass, e.g. for Ascension Thursday there will be an 8:30 am Low Mass.

PM for any specific questions about Holy Innocents.

BTW: jbach, I’m referring to the EF or TLM here. Even though you asked about ad oriented OF, you are more than welcome to come to the EF at Holy Innocents, and if you like PM me before you come and we could chat after.
