Was just baptised today. Yay!! Already missing the mountain top, but really, I was ready. Just wondering what general advice is given when one is getting down to every day living the faith after baptism. I know I’m not making tons of sense, but can anyone relate?

Congratulations!

What sort of religious background do you have?

Living my life of Catholicism is not easy, but it is very rewarding when I discover how far I can carry my cross (with God’s, all the angels and saints, and a community’s help of course).

Begin reading the Gospel of Luke. Read some (try a chapter, or even a portion of a chapter) every day. If journaling is your thing, try writing our your thoughts about how the passage challenges you. Pray about what you’ve read, asking God to help you apply it to your life.

Get an app for your phone (like iMissal) or a magazine like Magnificat that has the daily readings for Mass. Read along daily, even if you can’t attend daily Mass.

Like blogs? Find (ask if you need help) a couple of faithful Catholic blogs that resonate with where you are in life. Follow them. It helps you feel plugged in to the family.

Learn to think and live liturgically. The book The Catholic Home by Meredith Gould is a great place to go.

Is there a Bible Study going on at your parish or one nearby? If so, join it.

Plug in Parish and Diocese Retreats into your calendar. Then follow up and GO!

Is your parish or the one over doing a life chain to end abortion? Go hold a sign and pray a rosary.

Welcome home!!! 👍

When we obey our Lord, His yoke is easy and His burden light. We can do that by daily prayer, the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist with a sincere and open heart to His Love.

Welcome…I am so happy for you!

No, no, no, you never leave the mountain top. Others may leave you stranded there, but don’t go down to meet them. Visit with other saints, read about them, read what they wrote. Tablefor9 has some wonderful suggestions, live liturgically. Find Christ in all those you meet.

This.

You are probably new to Christianity. I don’t know how long you have gone through RCIA. But RCIA only talks about the very basics of the faith. Catholicism is a treasure takes time to dig. You can start with reading the coming Sunday Scriptures before attending Sunday Mass. Prepare yourself with the Scripture passages in advance and reflect on them can help you get more out of the homily. While attending Mass, focus.

Check out what church groups are available and choose some to join, such as a Bible study group, a Rosary group, a Chaplet of Divine Mercy group, etc. You may get to know some people and make some friends.

But most important is to establish your prayer routine. Get into a habit of prayer. Do not let one day go by without talking to God - share your life and your thoughts with Him, ask for His help, thank Him, praise Him, examine your conscience and ask for His forgiveness. Remember the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is a good loving and healing Sacrament to participate. It brings one much grace.

I think all these are a good start.

Wow, tons of good suggestions, thanks!! I love the Church. I have some church background. I have spent my lifetime talking to God, but not always listening. Its funny how He led me to the church. Through a rebellious Catholic I was dating at the time. We split up, I kept going to Mass. It felt really right. I was baptized day before yesterday, and Father reminded me about confession. When do I go? I have had some prideful thoughts, yesterday I yelled at a lady for parking in the crosswalk (I ride a bike) but I didn’t call her names. Just told her it was a crosswalk, not a parking lot. And I yell at my pets sometimes. If I confess stuff like that, would it be, oh what that word…where I would be picking at hairs?

Confession is good…it helps us become stronger in spirit, even when it is “picking at hairs”. 🙂

Thanks. Father talks about scrupulosity, but I going to confession this am before Mass, and let him decide.

The Sacraments, as soon as you can, as frequently as you can.

I am a convert too and daily Mass has meant more than I can possibly tell you. I wish you all the same joy as I and so many countless others have found …
