Who recorded the NT dialogue involving Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane when everyone was asleep? Or for that matter during the 40 days in the wilderness, or inside Pontius Pilate’s palace?

Would this be part of a faq somewhere?

All Scripture is inspired by God. The Holy Spirit, who was present at all of these events, guided each of the sacred authors to record what He wanted them to record. There may indeed have been a verbal chain of records, we have enough information to accruately say one way or another. How the Holy Spirit guided these individuals, while interesting, is rather secondary. The Gospel of Luke probably came from some personal interviews with Mary. The point is that the words are inspired and recorded as they should have been to help the faithful.

Hi Red,

The words we find in the Gospels are not necesarity the actual words that Jesus said, Proof of that is that, when the same incident is recorded by more than one evangelist, the words sometimes are not the same. But what you find in the Gospels are the actual teachings of Jesus.
