Okay, here is another way to look at this. It just is not classy. It is trying to be classy, but not. If it was a party for men with a nude female model, it would instantly be thought to border on creepy.

Look at my previous post regarding what I found with an internet sesrch.

Why would the OP feel left out? She was invited. That does not make one left out. And grown women don’t feel sad that they missed something if they decide it is not right for them. I am sure she is a big girl and once she makes up her mind either way will live through it.

She can go to part 2 of the night, take the friend out to lunch or a great concert or something, host her own shower (there can be more than one), or even be completely honest and talk things over with her friend. Lots of choices.

Hi all,

I am soon to attend a bachelorette party for a good friend. Said friend does not want strippers, which is a relief, but she does want us all to attend a nude drawing class (I’ve been told that they do teach us how to draw). Now I don’t have a problem with nude art for the purpose of art alone, but in this context I’m not so sure. Do I sit this out? Advice please:)
Suggest that they use a female model for the nude drawing class. If it really is about “art” and learning to draw the human body, then they will say fine. If, as seems to be the case and others are suggesting, it’s about an excuse to giggle about a naked man for the bachelorette party, they will refuse. In that case, the jig is up.

An amateur art class with a live nude model? Tell them to start with a apple or pear if they really want to learn to draw. That’s not a class for beginners.

Most models will only pose for serious students, not giggly girls night out types. It’s an insult to their dignity.

Well, I think it’s almost unanimous…that a big

NO!

We must like talking about this…lots of responses…LOL: blush:

The more I read in this thread, the more grateful I am that in the culture of my family, the pre-marriage celebration is a ‘kitchen tea’. An afternoon activity where the beverages are tea, coffee and fruit juices (and our culture does enjoy wine, but not at this party). Lots of tasty cakes and savoury stuff, and the guests range from the newest babies through to grannies, great grannies and great aunts. And none of the guests feel a need to blush at any of the games played.
One of my nieces, who is 29, had a PJ party and movie night as her shower. It was at her mom’s house, which has a big living room. A projector that plays DVDs was borrowed and the movie was shown on a wall, which looked amazing. There was popcorn, nachos, bowls of candy, and sodas. And tickets were given at the door for “admission”, but really they were for prizes. My nieces was named the “star” of the show.

They were planning on showing Leonard Dicaprio’s The Great Gatsby, which is why I was happy to be busy that night. LOL But they actually got bored with it and decided to play Mama Mia instead (I know, not the best storyline, but fun). That turned out to be a great decision because they all started singing and dancing along.

I think they all had a great time. Yeah, after you are married how often can you get to do something like that?
This sounds like a fun idea.
