Does the Donkey literally talk? I’m confused
- Does the Bible give a mathematically incorrect value of Pi?
What does the value of PI have anything to with the Bible. The *** said: Am not I thy beast, on which thou hast been always accustomed to ride until this present day? tell me if I ever did the like thing to thee. But he said: Never.

1 Kings 7:23What does the value of PI have anything to with the Bible.
in the Douay-Rheims?? or modern bibles??1 Kings 7:23
Thank you! I must buy that book, the Haydock Bible Commentary!3 Kings 27 from the Haydock Bible Commentary
Ver. 23. Brim, in diameter. The circumference was about 30 cubits; for it is not exactly three [but pi (3.14159…)] times as much as the diameter. (Calmet) — The latter is [approximately] as 7 to 22, with respect to the circumference. But the Scripture takes no notice of trifles. (Menochius)
so no it doesn’t give an incorrect value for PI
It doesn’t have any commentary on 22:30, but 22:28 which sometimes includes verses 28-31. I also contains notes from the Challoner version in which I provided you. Here what the prelude to 22:30 readsThank you! I must buy that book, the Haydock Bible Commentary!
What does it say about Numbers 22:30?
Are you insinuating that Commentary shouldn’t be used explaining the passage that are scriptural??? Honestly people here will use commentary to get their point across weather it be the Haydock Bible Commentary, Navarre or works of St. Thomas Aquinas. What do you have against commentary?I once had a Bible professor in College and he repeatedly told us, “The Scripture is divinely inspired, footnotes aren’t.”
The a[r]ss said: Am not I thy beast, on which thou hast been always accustomed to ride until this present day? tell me if I ever did the like thing to thee. But he said: Never.

We also have the proof validated in our created nature that is made in God’s own image. Da Vinci discovered this in his Vitruvian Man in what is often called “The Proportions of Man”.He [Solomon] made the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim [diameter=10] and five cubits high. It took a line of thirty cubits to measure around it. [circumference=30] .
Since circumference=PI x diameter as any elementary geometry book will tell you, but the Bible “seemingly” tells us that PI=3. Since “this is obviously false, therefore the Bible cannot be from God…” is how some people like to reason.
But obviously the wisdom of God is greater than the wisdom of man:
In this case the word for circumference=“line” in the Hebrew character set the Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) gematria letters for line are values 5, 6, and 100.
But in this verse “line” is written with an extra Hebrew letter and has the following characters which give a number sequence of 6 and 100. (letters הוק).
If we take the ratio of (the gematriacal value of the unusual Hebrew word form for “line” to the regular word form for “line” we get the following corrective ratio:
“Line” unusual form: 5 + 6 + 100=111 and “line” usual form: 6 + 100=106
111/106=1.0471698 for the ratio.
A literal read of the verse gives an intuitive false number for PI of 3
If we take the scriptural wisdom of correction and apply it to the the expected human error of “3” and scale it by the hidden scriptural correction we get:
3 multiplied by 1.0471698 =3.14150943…
The real value: PI=3.1415926…
The difference between 3 x 111/106 and PI is 0.0000832 which is only an error of 0.00026%.
The moral of the story is man should not engage in private interpretation of scripture since he is bound to encounter his own errors.

Of course not! Commentaries and footnotes are wonderfully helpful in understanding Scripture. Just as the Encylopedia Britannica is wonderfully informative on almost any topic you choose to look up. But, they are not inspired, they are not divine revelation. As long as that is kept in mind, they are great blessings. Are you insinuating that Commentary shouldn’t be used explaining the passage that are scriptural???
