Nuns can’t leave my thoughts

I know that this may sound stupid, but ever since I heard this religious sister give a testimony about a year ago I can’t get it the thought of being a religious sister out of my head. I’ve tried to talk to my youth group leader about it, and my church priest, but they all tell me to get a spiritual director, but when I tried she said I had to be 18. So, I forgot about the idea thinking it was a sign from God to forget it, but the thoughts will not stop coming back. Should I keep looking into religious life or am I being crazy?

Of course keep looking into it!!! Be open to hearing what your calling is. Your feelings may change and that’s ok but don’t dismiss if you feel a possible religious vocation

In lieu of a spiritual director, a regular confessor can play the same role.

You should certainly keep looking into religious life. I don’t know how young you are, but I had a daughter enter at 18 (she’s now 20) and is very happy. The priest she asked to be her spiritual director (when she was 16) got permission from me before accepting the role. Her monastery told her that if she could not find a spiritual director, then have a regular confessor.

Think of them, depending on your age as you would if you were thinking about becoming a teacher, which is what I wanted to be. it was the wrong reason that I wanted to be a nun, versus following God’s call . I never entered any convent, although at a very young age, I did write letters to different convents asking for information. When I was older, a sister friend said “if it is God’s calling He will turn a wrong reason into a correct reason.”
The correct reason, of course is a deep desire to follow Christ, not to run from the world, but to run to God, wherever He may take you.
As you seek God’s Will for your life, you can begin with small devotional acts, such as your Morning Offering and Angelus. You do not need to have a religious vocation to integrate the rosary, or parts of the Liturgy of the Hours into your daily life. This is where your parish priest can guide you. Like a physical fitness program, add spiritual elements slowly.
Your parish may have a Vocations Directory to help guide you to different sources to help with the discernment process, including youth retreats.

This is amazing! You should look up Asuncion presents discerning. Remember some saints had to keep trying and they got turned down by all of them one of the saints actually pilgrimaged to the pope and the pope had a dream about her from God saying to let her in a covent. Keep going keep digging don’t get discouraged the first one isn’t the one always. I went to meet one and discouraged me a lot. I did a novena and got my sign but I’m still discerning it though as well. Remember you have free will even mother Mary did as well, when gabriel came to her the angels in heaven were on edge waiting for her answer she still could had said no. She said yes the angel and heavens rejoiced so keep going!
