Nuptial Mass directly after conversion

Hello this is my first post, though I’ve read posts and searched for answers on here for years. My question is on marriage, my fiance and I are in RCIA which we fully intended to do before our engagement. We submitted the sin of fornication and became pregnant, little Giovanni will be born any day now! We are regretful for having sinned against God and have ceased that behavior, and now we are looking toward marriage. We both think that it is best to be married as soon as possible, for the sake of our son. I understand that we must wait the six months, but does that mean six months after the Vigil mass or six months after expressing our intent to get married. We can wait of course if we must but for the sake of our son we would much rather marry a year from october on the feast day of Saint Francis. Please help us to understand when we can marry in relation to our conversion. Thanks and God bless.

Contact the Pastor and/or the Diocese. The answer will need to be local.

Also one can seek a dispensation from the waiting time…via the chancery…but only do so with great discernment. One of course does not want to get married just due to the child…nor rush things.

As the above poster said, ask your priest as different areas apply the rules in slightly different ways.

I will pray for you, your fiancee and little Giovanni. The fact that the two of you want to do the best for your child is the most important thing, that is what will give him the best upbringing possible. I will pray for you all over the next few days, that the birth will be as easy as possible and also that seeing your baby for the first time will be the greatest joy you have ever known.
