What parts of the nuptial mass require music? I selected Missa de Angelis for the ordinary but I am not sure what else to choose. It will be Novus Ordo. What traditional hymns and music can I choose?
*NO Organ???That would be great, but I don’t see it happening. My pastor like guitar masses. There isn’t even an Organ. I know that to the Angels and Saint the Mass is beautiful under such situations but Organ and Chant elevates my spirit to contemplate the things of God.
The gyst of my question, though, was what hymns should I select?
You should still talk with your music director and/or priest before assuming anything. They might surprise you (in a good or bad way). I know a priest at a parish that I frequently visit when seeing relatives who likes some of that odd 1970’s music, but he can chant a whole mass decently. Since the newest papal document regarding music he chants more often and has changed the Sanctus back to the Latin one also. I also know that depending on who has to do the music for you some hymns might be out of the question due to their skills or lack thereof. That would be great, but I don’t see it happening. My pastor like guitar masses. There isn’t even an Organ.
I have put public domain hymn tunes at romanrite.com/hymns.html played by an organ. By downloading one and opening with iTunes they could be put onto a iPod or burnt onto a CD.… There isn’t even an Organ.
