Er, I’m a guy. Not sure where the “my sister” bit came from. 😛

And that was meant to be a humorous post. The essence of the incident is true, but we did end up discussing Bible versions. I was just trying to highlight the particular (amusing) misconceptions about various forms of Christianity that could come up, especially in a place where it’s not the majority religion. 😃
Sorry:o

How so?

Examples?
The biggest one, of course, is anything having to do with the Eucharist. “This is My Body… this is My Blood” and “My Flesh is real food, My Blood is real drink”

Some others: “Baptism now saves you” and “You are Peter, and on this Rock I will build My Church.”

Want more examples?

*On a special note, why do the Jesuits get the rumours of sedition? Is it an old hold-over from the days of Elizabeth I and Walsingham? One would think the Dominicans would be the ones conspiring to overthrow republics, like that one
Be careful about what you say. :bigyikes: 😛
Isn’t it interesting that out of all the religious orders that exist within the Church, only the Society of Jesus and the Opus Dei get singled out? Who’s after, say, the Dominicans or the Carmelites or the Augustinians?

(Entering tongue-in-cheek mode)…Come to think of it, the Jesuit order must only be a front for the Order of Preachers! The Dominicans are apparently responsible for EVERY EVIL IN THE WORLD - just look at how many Dominicans participated in the Inquisition (for example, Robert le Bougre)!
What’s more, who do you think authored the Malleus Maleficarum? Heinrich Kramer and James Sprenger, both Dominicans!
If we might add, the Pope who presided in the Council of Trent - where the Roman Catholic Church dared to add books to the Biblical canon - is Antonio (Michele) Ghislieri, OP; also known as Pope Pius V!!! :bigyikes:
One symbol of the Dominicans is a BLACK dog - based on my sources this must come from the Egyptian god Anubis, often depicted as a BLACK jackal (related to the dog)!

The Dominican dog.

An Anubis statue.

Note the torch carried by the Dominican dog. It would seem that this is a covert reference to the heathen practices of old: the Egyptian Book of the Dead describes the making of four lighted lamps/TORCHES which are made for the dead person! How low can you get?

Still not convinced? Just look at the name “Dominican”. We can divide it into domus (“house”) and inicus, which means “unjust”, “unfair”, or even “hostile” (!!!). So, the name apparently means “hostile/unjust house”! Just see how their names speak of their actions. (Ending tongue-in-cheek mode)

I’m waiting for Jack Chick or someone else to pick that up…or not. 😛
There are incorrect facts in that parody there by the way…I’ll leave it to you to see which those are.

How so?

Examples?
There is the largest example: the Book of James. It’s first chapter alone makes sola fide look like it was pulled from thin air.

With a literal interpretation of John 3:5:
[BIBLEDRB]John 3:5[/BIBLEDRB]

One sees that Baptism (a work) becomes necessary for salvation.

Confession:
[BIBLEDRB]James 5:16[/BIBLEDRB]

Some of the above are totally priceless. Talk about invincible ignorance. 😃

I submit the following exchange for your reading pleasure:

Colleague: “You’re a Catholic, right”?
Self: “Yes, that’s right.”
Colleague: “You go to Church every Sunday. Is that why they call you Seventh-Day Adventists?”
Self: (begins to explain the MASSIVE differences between the Church and SDA)
Colleague: “Oh, I get it. And your main book is the King James Bible, right?”
Self: gives up

😉
At least he said that our main book is the Bible. 😛

Be careful about what you say. :bigyikes: 😛
You forgot to mention Torquemada.

You also forgot to mention Aquinas. Clearly his position as ‘Doctor of the Church’ is indicative of the great evil the Church attracts and possesses.

In fact, you also forget to mention how the Church tried to spread its evil to the New World with Bartolomé de las Casas.

However, you cannot be blamed, since the Vatican controls the world’s education system.

:frighten:

Oooooh yea. Forgot about that 😛

Good point! 👍

And to be fair to him, he’s a non-Christian who was, at the moment, facing some very ham-fisted “evangelism” from a Seventh-Day Adventist. I may not have been able to explain everything to him, but I may have prevented him from exploring SDA further. 😉

an atheist told me on Reddit that Catholics use Consecrated wine in blood transfusions

Shalom
God Bless

Let’s quote from the past (taken from the net: to see sources just copy the sentences to google):

“We Will Destroy Christianity in Nigeria” - Boko Haram Leader.

"Iranians Claim Book Find will Destroy Christianity "

“A number of historians maintain that the Nazis had a general covert plan, which some
argue existed before the Nazis’ rose to power, to destroy Christianity within the Reich”

“The Antichrist Will Destroy The Great Whore”

“Diocletian wanted to destroy Christianity”

“How many divisions,” Stalin is supposed to have inquired contemptuously, “has the pope?”

“I will destroy Christianity within a generation” (Afonso Costa, prime-minister of Portugal,1910)

“Christians are infidels” (Muslims in general)

“Catholics are traitors” (Henry the VIII)

“Seeking to preserve a religion based on the notion of a higher power that would replace Christianity, Robespierre organized the Festival of the Supreme Being held in June 1794, casting himself in the title role.”

“The Soviet Union was the first state to have as an ideological objective the elimination of religion. Toward that end, the Communist regime confiscated church property, ridiculed religion, harassed believers, and propagated atheism in the schools. Actions toward particular religions, however, were determined by State interests, and most organized religions were never outlawed. It is estimated that 500,000 Russian Orthodox Christians were martyred in the gulags by the Soviet government, not including torture or other Christian denominations killed”

"Christianity “is an exclusive and self-righteous religion. And society in the United States and Europe, which are based on Christianity, are at a dead end,” the Nikkei newspaper quoted Ozawa (head of the Japan Buddhist Federation) as telling reporters after the meeting. “Islam is better, but it is also exclusive.”
