Another state saying we have no rights:
New York Courts Won’t Allow Catholics Freedom of Religion on Abortion-Causing Birth Control
By Hilary white

NEW YORK, January 16, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A New York state law requiring employers to pay for contraception as part of medical insurance packages, has been upheld in a 3-2 decision. Nearly a dozen groups, including Catholic Charities of the Albany Diocese attempted to gain a temporary injunction against the law which they said violates their freedom of religion. The case will likely now go to a higher court for appeal.

Perhaps the answer is for these Charities not to take Federal or State funds anymore…than they will no tbe held to the same standard.!!!

To receive public funding, such groups must argue that they are not promoting religion. But in challenging the New York law, the Catholic Church is arguing that its health care, educational and social service institutions are part of its religious ministry and should be given the protection of religious freedom. source
  • Advocates of the law say religious-affiliated hospitals and other institutions employ and serve people of other faiths and often accept public funds. As a result, they say, they must abide by the same laws as secular institutions. source*

Maybe it is time for Catholics to reject the teachings of the world (& laws that are contrary to God’s Law) and simply refuse to obey unjust laws.

These things should warn us that we are facing a time of martyrdom, where, like the early Christians, we will be called on to chose either God or our lives.

Amen! I say bring it on! I asked my mother-in-law the other day if she were ready to die for her faith (in anticipation of more nonsense like the above post). She said, “Sure, why not?” God bless her little heart. 🙂

I doubt that many Catholics are willing to die over the issue of birth control. Especially since the over whelming majority of Catholic men and women use some form other than NFP.

You should only die out of love for another. Christ gave his life not for what he was against in society (at that time) but for all of us.

I totally agree!!

Ah, speak for yourselves. I’m sick of the culture of death being crammed down my throat. I think it is time to stand up and be counted, and I think our religious institutions should get off the public teat and get back to doing good on their own. I work for a Catholic hospital and I’m all for it. I’d rather volunteer my time by nursing the poor with love and compassion and few medical supplies than suck up to the politically correct.
