Why do we, as Catholics take oaths in court, or other places, when we should “let our yes be a yes, and a no be a no”? it seems pretty clear… the Society of Friends (Quakers) use this passage literally and do not take oaths, from what I understand.

CCC 2154 Following St. Paul, the tradition of the Church has understood Jesus’ words as not excluding oaths made for grave and right reasons (for example, in court). “An oath, that is the invocation of the divine name as a witness to truth, cannot be taken unless in truth, in judgment, and in justice.”

…so Catholics should do what other Believers do?

…where does it end?

Jehovah Witnesses visit door to door (as Mormons) and they preach anti-Christ theology… but they base their practice on Scriptures ("…go, therefore… all the world…")

What Catholics should not do is pretend to take an oath in front of Yahweh God, lie through their teeth and think that they gotten away with it (most politicians are good for this practice)!

…should Catholics also listen to St. Paul when he tells the Believers not to go to gentile courts… that they should handle things in the Body? (I hope you get my drift…)

…don’t forget that Jesus did not pray that the Father remove Christians from the world but that He protect them from Satan!

…we are part of the court systems of the world and we are obligated to be truthful and impartial, following our Christian-trained conscience ("…let your “yes” be yes…")
