Obama Appeals Ruling Stopping Tax-Funded Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Washington, DC – The Obama administration officially filed its appeal today of a federal judge’s decision striking down President Barack Obama’s executive order forcing taxpayers to fund embryonic stem cell research. The judge said the order contravened a federal law against funding the destruction of human embryos.

The appeal doesn’t stand much chance being that it didn’t even address the legal point the judge used when issuing the preliminary injunction. The judge ruled that the granting of funds in such cases is a clear violation of federal law. To prevail against the injunction, the administration will have to demonstrate the law does not apply in this case or the the judge made one of more legal errors. Their appeal doesn’t suggest any legal error nor does it offer anything to show the law is not applicable in this case. The gist of their argument is that IF the legal challenge to the executive order does NOT prevail, intended recipients will be irreparably harmed. That may be so, but it isn’t cause to withdraw an injunction that cites an existing law prohibiting a practice, harm or no harm.

Amen to that! We have the most pro-death in history and Catholics did not stand up as a group to oppose this evil. I guess getting all the government programs one wants is more important to some Cathlics than taking a stand against the slaughter of the innocent.
