Washington, DC – The main talk in the nation’s capital today is that President Barack Obama may have the chance to appoint two new Supreme Court justices soon. That’s because two of the members of the high court’s 5-4 pro-abortion majority are facing advancing age and health issues and may consider retirement.

Interesting, but the two who are likely to retire are both pro-choice liberals, to be replaced by pro-choice liberals. It doen’t fundamentally change the makeup of the court. Unless Justice Sotomayor …

Obama will certainly try to move the Court further in the pro-abortion direction. There won’t we any more Alito’s nominated on his watch. His nominees will have the ability to find abortion rights in the constitution, regardless of what it’s authors thought.

That’s debatable.

Whether on not ‘choice’ is allowed by the constitution is debatable. And I’m not pro-choice.

It took the Roe court some digging in order to find it. Strange that it wasn’t discovered right there for a couple hundred years, while the States were regulating abortion in various ways.

But not only did the Roe court manage to find it in there, it even found, of all things, a trimester test to be applied to abortion laws. And Doe found an expansive health exception!

I would be careful in attempting to make this a party issue, the Chief Justice and others in the RvsW case were put in by Republicans. There are also “pro-life” liberals out there as well, and plenty of “pro-death” conservatives.
