Obeisance vs veneration

OK, so the Jehovah’s Witness translation of the NT uses the word “obeisance” instead of “worship” when directed at Jesus. I’m a little thick. Can somebody help me with this word? As Catholics we “venerate” Mary. I understand what veneration is, so what is “obeisance” as compared to “veneration” ?
 
venerate - to regard or treat with reverence

obeisance - deference or homage

so these are similar demonstrations of respect?
