Please forgive me here but
why why why do half of you reply to questions with answers that include its your obligation or duty to…
Out of no disrespect - to me that is absolute cop out answer and rubbish if that is all you can find to say about a fellow christian should be in church. Can’t you find better, genuine answers to use?
What we do think and say in or out of church has nothing to do with obligaitons or duty. Simply that we love God and this is how as Roman Catholics we show our love to God.
I just read a thread title that asks do the RC church still teach fear? I don’t know the answer to that but a couple of month on here and most of the replies install fear far beyond what the original question was actually about. So whether the church teaches it I don’t know but its activated via here.
All of what you have shown me here is that am very relieved to be a relaxed anglican (and do bother with confession), with a very approachable priest at church. If I was RC well the poor parish priest…, - I would never be out of confession if hadn’t have been excommunicated long ago by what I read here. I just wish that people could have a happy spiritual time with God.
People are very worried when they come to post questions in a public space. Too worried to be able to seek help locally. The last thing they need is obligaitons and duties etc thrown at them. The first thing they need is a thank you because someone somewhere be reading it and applies to them too. Look after our brothers and sisters in Christ. Not torture them with canticles and articles and duties and obligations. Tell them it so they inspire to feel good, not want to walk away deflated because never going to achieve it.
Many many posts really have gone way beyond the orginal question and quite frightening really what some of you say to one another in reply.
Just think next time you post and make it something that you would want to receive yourself. A few threads/posts been very good. I know that people are probably just over keen to help. But stop a second. What made that person post instead of asking their priest? For 99% of the time they will have a far better answer from their priest than they will get here from what I’ve read. People come here initially for reassurance. Let them receive reasssurance and love.
Peace be with you all
Amen
