It seems to me that almost all the people I know have very little knowledge of what actually happens to the innocent unborn during an abortion. There’s very little education about the impacts it has on a woman’s emotional well being and there’s even less on how the removal of the unborn baby happens. If more people learnt about how sad and horrific abortions really are then surely something would be done to stop them from happening. Why do you think it is that hardly anyone is being taught about the terrible way abortions are carried out and how unjust they are towards vulnerable lives? :crying:

I and most pro choicers I know do know how they are carried out. We know that the vast majority are done medically, where a pill is taken and induces a miscarriage that happens at home. We also know how surgical abortions are done if the pregnancy is more than three months along. We’ve seen the pictures, we get it. We even know how late term abortions are done, and some of us have varying opinions on those.

But the pro life movement is seen as intellectually dishonest for many reasons, and one of the big ones is their portrayal of a typical abortion, when in fact most are done at home in the first three months and it’s rare to even see the sac, and there are no baby parts to see.

Regardless of how or at what stage an abortion is performed,an innocent life is destroyed.😦

BTW,with the increased technology,it actually is possible to see the nascent life as early as five weeks.
At this Point in development, the baby’s heart is already beating, the neural tube is forming as well as arm and leg buds.Baby is only the size of an apple seed. 🙂

I understand your point and I agree, there should be more education. But it must be done in such a way as to be respectful to those of us who have endured miscarriages. And the public at large, not all of whom are for abortion.
The connection may not be obvious.
Unwittingly passing an otherwise unmarked abortion clinic one day, I had to pass some graphic pictures. They do not need to convince me, by the way. And there was no other route to take for several weeks.
I spoke up one day.
“I am in agreement with you,” I said, “Have you thought how torturous this is for women who have had miscarriages? Graphics aren’t necessary for a public protest. Hand them to the women as they enter, maybe. Better yet, help with the education that would prevent this from seeming as necessary to these girls. Don’t just stand there!! Pray for the souls purposfully lost, here or anywwhere.”
I understand that if one life is saved for the protest at the site, it was worth it. The fight is not limited to the location of the crime, however. Start the protest elsewhere and pray at the very public clinic without the posters. Everything else, but please not the posters. Please.

The following day, they were across the street, with non picture posters and praying. It was a larger than usual crowd. The general public was joining in. As did the local clergy.

Yes, this is a sensitive issue for me. And oddly enough, about 25 years ago, I addressed a pastor doing the same thing, and replied on behalf of women who had miscarried; never dreaming it would happen to me.

Whatever gestation a a baby is aborted it is still a human being that is being killed. By three months gestation you can the baby on an ultrasound. By 3 months gestation a woman is feeling the physical effects of carrying her child, her body has changed to adapt to pregnancy and the baby has developed hormones, digestive juices, urine, white blood cells, knees, ankles, if it is a boy testosterone, elbows and most organs are formed by 3 months.

Actually, you are mistaken.
Please (since I am prolife, you might not tak,e my word for it ;)) look up ru486 and the time frame given. It must be taken within 63 days following the first day of last menstrual cycle. 63 days is only about 2 months. Not three.

Also go to WebMD to look at what a 9 week baby looks like . I saw my dd at 8 weeks. She had very recognizable shape - a head, eyes, arm buds and a heart beat.

Finally perhaps ask someone who miscarried at around 9 weeks. She could let you know what her experience was.

:thankyou:

13 years ago and my only opportunity.

thank you
Oh I am crying for you right now! I feel so selfish because I ONLY have one! I will hold her extra tight today but I feel so empty for you that you have to wait for that hug!

Did you name your child?

Can we imagine what goes through the minds -for the rest of their lives- of the women that do this? What can we do with this aspect of education?

Despite what this is, I feel for those who have carried through with this. They will always wonder. As do I. I pray for both the souls who were not given their rightful opportunities, and the troubled souls that are left to know this. The former are with God. What of the troubled souls? Please pray.

I need to bow out of this one.
thank you.

I’m very sorry that I am able to tell you how wrong this is. I have had eight miscarriages from 6-20 weeks. The baby I lost at 10 weeks was very clearly formed. Little head, body, arms, and legs. I held him/her in the palm of my hand and could see where the facial features had been forming, eyes, ears, and nose. If someone does not see the baby, it’s not because he/she isn’t there, but because they are not looking.

They have eyes, but they do not see. Mark 8:18

There are several rescourses for post abortive women and men.Rachael’s Vineyard Ministry is a beautiful ministry. The three day retreat is a process that provides a measure of closure and healing, via thevSacrament of reconciliation and other exercises. Also,ThevSilent No More campaign, comprised of postabortive women and men. They speak out at rallies re their regret of choosing abortion. This aspect I feel is absolutely essential in getting out the message of abortion’s destructive nature. Many of these individuals are also sidewalk counselors in front of abortion clinics.

Also, the K of C’s are providing ultra sound machines in a lot of crisis pregnancy centers. It has been proven that when a woman actually sees her baby, she is more likely to choose
ILife for her baby!:)No wonder PP is opposed to this measure.😦

Only because of the amount of blood - not because the baby is microscopic, or unrecognizable as being a baby.

Intellectually dishonest? BALONEY. What is intellectually dishonest are the pro abortion people who call this “women’s healthcare” or “reproductive rights.” They know if they actually admit what happens in an abortion, the majority of Americans will recoil in horror.

Yesterday I saw an amazing video on WebMD that was titled “From a Single Cell to a Baby” With incredible technology the developing baby was shown literally as the sperm entered the egg, the first division of cells and then the rapid development. The narrator (who did not seem to be religious in any way) said that the speed of the EARLY development is such that were it to continue, a baby would weigh several TONS at birth. Of course this rapid development slows down once the major organs are formed. The absolute MIRACLE of a baby’s development was so apparent. The narrator commented how we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (no he didn’t use those words but they were so obvious). He talked about development of the heart starting as two strands of cells and how the chambers are formed and how the lungs make way for the heart. At a much earlier stage than you claim, the unborn child is CLEARLY a human being with human features and all his or her organs. They are persons blue eyed, just little teeny persons.

I can’t pretend to understand how any educated person can hold your view. I used to be pro abortion but I was ignorant of fetal development and of the utter humanity from the moment of conception. Babies are a miracle.

In other words, if we don’t see the person being killed, it’s okay to kill them. If we dehumanize them and call them less than human, it’s okay to kill them by the hundreds, thousands or even millions. Makes perfect sense. I have to wonder if your cognitive dissonance trumps the prolifers’ intellectual dishonesty.

I fail to see any intellectual dishonesty, maybe I’m just dense.
What bothers me is that most Americans don’t know that Planned Parenthood does abortions, does 1/3 of all the abortions in the country, derives the majority of their income from abortions, and does very little else in the way of “healthcare.”
I guess they do provide help for people with STDs, and contraceptives, especially for girls forced to be prostitutes or victims of child molesters.
And our president gave a speech to Planned Parenthood recently, lauding their efforts, promising to stand with them, here.
He needs our prayers so badly.
