I know, but honestly I found it almost funny. They talked about how Transubstantiation wasn’t taught in the Bible; but as I open my Bible right now…wow look it’s right there. They can’t justify their own defiance of authority, so they concentrate on attacking us with their anti-Catholic propaganda.
Geez, I’m starting to sound like a broken record, even to myself.
On the bright side, most of the Catholic community is accustomed to the Protestant rubbish. We get plenty of it on this forum.
And, the beat goes on…![]()
think that they should offer reading classes at the local Protestant Church then they might be able to understand the Bible more clearly.I know, but honestly I found it almost funny. “But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (John 6:50-51)

Ya-the funniest part was whre they argued that in 1415 when the latiy was denied drinking form the cup the Church was going against scripture, tradition and the tecachings of the Church fathers. None of which would seem to matter if transubstaniation wasnt truethink that they should offer reading classes at the local Protestant Church then they might be able to understand the Bible more clearly.
I think so. I can’t be sure. I do have a question that I can’t clear up however. Why does only the clergy drink the Blood of Christ?Ill admit thats pretty funny. But i think im misunderstanding the definition of the word Laity? either way doesnt the Priest drink from the cup along with the Laymembers?
At the same time? I can honestly say that although I consider myself Roman Catholic I have never participated in the Holy Eucharist. This is because I haven’t taken the RCIA yet. Most Catholic churches I’ve been to since the early 70’s have offered both species in one way or another.
When my cousin was pastor or a parish in Alabama, he used a plate-looking item, which had a small cup in the middle, to dip the hosts in the wine.
The rule change allowing receiving Communion by hand made this device impractical
But I wander off-topic![]()
Oh thank you. So one can receive both the Body and the Blood at the same time?Several years ago, receiving the host dipped in the consecrated wine was not at all unusual.
But with the “hands” ruling, now many churches use lay ministers to offer wine from a chalice, while the Priest and Deacon distribute the hosts.
Oh thanks, I really can’t wait to take the RCIA.I do every week, unless the “wine line” gets too long and bungles up the order of people getting back into their original pew seats
The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ are all present in the Host. Eating the Host without drinking from the chalice does not prevent you from receiving the Blood of Christ.Oh thank you. So one can receive both the Body and the Blood at the same time?
Absolutely! I haven’t taken from the cup in 22 years. The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ are all present in the Host. Eating the Host without drinking from the chalice does not prevent you from receiving the Blood of Christ.
Let me wander with you…Most Catholic churches I’ve been to since the early 70’s have offered both species in one way or another.

I thought this was not allowed because it is self communicating?Let me wander with you…
At Holy Rosary parish in Houston, TX, they still use this device at the Latin Mass… and yes, we KNELT at the communion rail to receive, too!
Personally, I’d love to see the Church go back to this method of distributing communion myself.![]()
That was made the rule in the 1400s because of a hersey that said Christ wasn’t present truely in the host and cup unless both are there. But Christ is present Body Blood Soul and Divinity in even the tinest crumb of the host, or the smallest drop of the Blood. So the restriction was done to combat hersey.I think so. I can’t be sure. When the host is dipped in wine it is called intinking. It is a very practical way to recieve the host. In the Byz Cath Church they always recieved the two species together. The Body is placed in the Blood and everyone recieves the Blood soaked Bread on the tounge.
