I can’t make it to Mass on Holy Thursday b/c I have a night class, but afterwords I will be attending Eucharistic Adoration (which runs until midnight).:signofcross:

Good Friday, I am planning on taking off from work to spend the day in prayer and reflecting and the I will attend the Veneration of the Cross that evening. Also I will be in prayer to prepare my self for the Easter Vigil at which I will be confirmed. :gopray2:

Saturday, I think I will make one more confession before Easter Vigil (I’ve already made my 1st). and then it will be off to the Easter Vigil and I will finally become a confirmed and true Catholic!! :extrahappy:

I obtained 4 - 7 April as vacation time from the Post Office

4 April…4 PM, Confession
7:30 PM, Tenebrae

5 April…8 AM, Morning Prayer (LOTH)
*5:30 PM, potluck for entire RCIA
*7 PM, mass with dismissal
*Session after Mass to include a Sader Meal and washing of feet of the Elect. Out at 10 PM

6 April…8 AM, Morning Prayer (LOTH)
Noon, Office of Readings (LOTH)
*7 PM, Veneration of the Cross and Mass

7 April…*8 AM, Morning Prayer (LOTH)
*9:30 AM - Noon, mini-retreat
*6 PM, be at church, all dressed up.
*8 PM. Vigil Parish Community Mass

Items marked (*) are required attendence. The rest I am attending “because they are there”.

8 April…We are expected to attend a mass today, on our own, I may attend at a neighbooring church, just for variety
 
started the week by helping with the filling of food baskets for the poor this morning. On my way to Adoration, at 3. Holy Thursday Mass, Mass on Good Friday, Divine Mercy chaplet, then Stations of the cross, followed by a concert by our parish choir. Big week, oh yeah don’t forget to start the Divine Mercy Cheplet on Good Friday. Happy and Blessed Easter one and all.
 
Mass on Good Thursday (the special one), Good Friday Service on Good Friday, Easter Vigil Mass on Good Saturday, stricter Lenten discipline. Probably reflection. Maybe something more.

work all day Thurs last day to get everything ready for the Vigil. Probably handle a million phone calls from candidates, sponsors and parents. Finish up any paperwork–seals for certificates, gifts etc.
Nap at 4, then swim, shower, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, adoration until midnight.

I have always since childhood preferred to find a place to be silent from noon - 3 on Good Friday. our Service is at 3 so I will drive out to a ranch north of here where a friend has invited me to hang out, it will be quiet, she has a lot of outdoor shrines, statues etc. in the yard, places to sit, read, think, pray, watch the birds, and be alone. We will have an early brunch then just do our own thing, then drive to church together saying the sorrowful mysteries in the car on the way.

another nap, because we cannot set up for Saturday until late Friday evening. Do what we can, then back at 7 am Saturday to finish prep for the vigil. Lunch. Nap. Hope the candidates are also napping. Back at 7, candidates and sponsors arrive at 8, vigil begins at 9. then an awesome 2 1/2 hours my absolute favorite night of the year. I have been in love with the Easter Vigil since my first one in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Detroit as a teenager. Then 9 am Mass with DH so we can be together, and I can actually pray the Mass without any other job to do, and a long NAP, dinner will be Lean Cuisine sometime or another, unless they are having something at the clubhouse.

somewhere along Holy Week and the Triduum my prayer will become sincere, that the Holy Spirit take over all the work of preparing the candidates and catechumens, as we hand them over to Him entirely after our minimal but well-intentioned contribution. I remind myself of my granddaughter who has industriously spread flour all over the kitchen, spilled sprinkles on the floor, is covered with cookie dough because she has been “helping” her mom bake cookies, and how proud she will be when Daddy eats one of “her” cookies. that is about how much we help Him in this RCIA process, but he fondly allows us to participate.
 
Mass of the Last Supper on Thursday night; Stations of the Cross at 3 on Good Friday followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet, then Veneration of the Cross at 7:30 Good Friday evening; Easter Vigil at 7:30 on Saturday night. We are having a Tenebrae service on Wednesday. Has anyone been to one? I haven’t been to one and am not sure what happens at this service.
 
Mass on Holy Thursday (my first time ever to attend this Mass in my whole life!), followed by the congregation of our parish “keeping watch” in Eucharistic Adoration until midnight. After that the Blessed Sacrament will be reposed and our adoration chapel closed until Monday. Then, liturgy on Good Friday and the Vigil Saturday night. I’m psyched!

This week is the anniversary of my separation and divorce. 😦 I’m trying to ask God to join my small sufferings with His Son’s.

I wish every parish could have perpetual adoration like we do, it is such a blessing!
 
Yep, our former Pastor always had a Tenebrae Service on Wed. in Holy Week before the Tridium. It is a very solomn (sp? - the older I get the worse I get about spelling!!:o) service with scripture readings and responses from the congregation. If I remember correctly, there are candles that are extinguished one by one after the final readings and responses. At the end of the service, the book is slammed shut by the priest. (and I do mean slammed loudly) as to signify the sealing of the tomb of Our Lord) and the congregation is asked to leave the church (they inform you of this before the service begins) in complete silence and partial darkness. (as to signify the darkness of the days ahead) This year we are not doing the Tenebrae (many changes in our parish) but I loved it. It was a wonderful preparation for the Tridium to center your mind on the horrendous sufferings of Our Lord for us.

8:15 Mass Holy Thursday morning. Maundy Thursday service and choir rehearsal at the Episcopal church where I sing professionally. Back to the Cathedral for nocturnal adoration after choir and until the Compline service that will end at midnight.

Good Friday Morning Prayer at my home parish - I will be the cantor. I’ll go to the Good Friday Liturgy at 3:00, but haven’t decided where. I might go to my home parish or to the Cathedral with the Cardinal. Stations of the Cross in the evening, with opportunity for confession if needed. (I plan to go Tuesday night, but anything can happen!)

Saturday Easter Vigil. I will be the cantor and sing with the parish choir. They have a new, very young director. We’ll see how that goes! I haven’t heard them yet.

Easter Morning - Episcopal services at 9:00 and 11:00. Big-time music with organ, brass, tympani and handbells accompanying the choirs. Breakfast served between services.

Easter afternoon - dinner at DH’s cousin’s house - outstanding Italian cooks!

Happy Easter to you all! BTW, all you who say you will attend Mass on Good Friday - don’t be surprised when it’s not Mass, but the reading of the Passion, Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion. There is no Mass anywhere on Good Friday.

I will miss a lot of the activities we had with my LA church - Seder on Palm Sunday night, Tenebrae, and the regular services on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. We also had a Light & Dark service on Friday night - similar to Tenebrae - in 05 we changed that to the Stations held on our church and cemetery grounds - very enjoyable. Here in AR I will attend all that is offered - Holy Thursday and Good Friday services and will attend Mass on Easter Sunday.

Good Friday: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion - Noon
Holy Saturday: Getting ready for Vigil, My daughter receiving all Sacraments, I’m receiving Confirmation. Easter Vigil: 8 PM - 10:30(ish), reception afterwards
Easter Sunday: Have to work 😦 (Hospitals don’t close!)
 
Does anyone know anything about the practise of going to 7 churches to do adoration on Holy Thursday?
 
I will be working all of Holy Week, probably for a total of up to maybe 70 hours until 2:00 pm on Easter Sunday…then I will fall asleep on my mother-in-law’s couch maybe even before dinner is served. Easter Monday I take the day off because I won’t be able to wake up or otherwise move.
