**** god. mother****in dumb ***** doesnt even exist. its just a scam to get dumb whores money and time. get high and worship satan. also skateboarding is good.
Ok so if I drink a little its not a sin but if I drink alot its a sin. But just because our government, under false information, believes its bad for you so you can smoke it but you can drink. Both alter the mind but only one is illegalIt seems that others have dealt with this answer on the thread. Reread those post entries.
Because it alters the mind. Illegality does not determine the sinfulness, but it adds a factor to the sin.
Society does not determine sin. However, unless there is a serious reason not to, we are to obey the governing authorities.
It is, or at least, can be. Speed limits and other motor laws are there to guard human safety; to disregard them is not only to disregard society’s laws, but also the objective of human safety.
The gravity of the sin would depend on the circumstances. Speeding to get a sick person to medical treatment would be no sin at all, if no other transport were available. Speeding for “fun” would be most likely a serious sin. Going 10 mph or kph over the limit on a high-speed roadway would be only a minor sin. Blowing through a school-zone at 70 mph or kph would be serious.
Scripture tells us to be subject to the governing authorities. Therefore, unless there is a serious reason not to, keeping human law is “part of God’s law”.
There are valid reasons to break the human law; but “getting high” has never been such a reason.

So taking prescription pain meds after a surgery or something similar is a sin?yes it’s a sin because it’s a sin to get intoxicated with anything. Whether alcohol or drugs.
It is a sin to use prescription drugs for any purpose other than for what they were created to do. If you use any drug to get intoxicated, its a sin. When you use a prescription pain med, the “high” is only a side effect, not the intended treatment of taking the drug for a health issue. It would not be a sin to use pot if a doctor prescribed it for its medical benefits for a particular patient. Even OTC cold medicines can become sinful if you are taking them only for the “high” or the “buzz” they can provide. So taking prescription pain meds after a surgery or something similar is a sin?
This is why I have a hard time with this logic because by that logic the answer to that question is yes. Vicodin is a power pain med that does alter the mind which is a side effect to the pain relief. I do not smoke pot and have no desire to but I find it odd that God would put things on this planet that are beneficiary (not pot but other drugs) and consider it a sin not to use them.
I’m currently reading through the bible for the first time in years… I’ve not yet seen the caveat about prescription drugs. It is a sin to use prescription drugs for any purpose other than for what they were created to do. I’m not quite sure what you are trying to say.I’m currently reading through the bible for the first time in years… I’ve not yet seen the caveat about prescription drugs.
Now that’s, excuse me, just plain silly. NASCAR drivers understand and agree to the risks they take when they sign on with their sponsors and the track, etc, and the spectators agree to their level of risk when they buy a ticket to a racing event. Members of the public do NOT agree to be put at risk so another average citizen can get an adrenal rush along the public streets.Ok lets me get this straight. If you speed its not a sin but it can be. If you speed to have fun then its a sin. I feel sorry for the NasCar drivers, those sinful people, even people in the stands have gotten hurt from them speeding.
If you drink “to get high,” it is a sin, legality notwithstanding. But its ok to drink to get high because its legal, why I don’t know, but the final outcome is the same. You are in some way impared. Be it legal or not if you over do it its a sin. The legality has nothing to do with it. Its the outcome.
Not necessarily, in the view of St. Thomas. Drink to the point of merriment - do not drink to the point of losing your reason. If you drink “to get high,” it is a sin, legality notwithstanding.
Or if you’re going close to the speed of traffic. That’s not a sin. This is starting to get silly. What if one is careful while they speed? I’ve sped several times on the interstate, and never come close to hurting anybody because of my speed. Speeding doesn’t always equate to wreckless driving.
True it don’t always equate to wreckless driving but if one speeds one can lose control and op’s next thing ya know there I go having to cut them out of their car. I have seen it way too much. There were a couple of teenagers that just graduated from highschool. One of the parents had bought his son a mustang for graduation. Now they were not drinking or on drugs when this happened. Him and a buddy of his were traviling down the freeway at a high rate of speed when they passed a 18 wheeler by the time the driver of the 18 wheeler who they passed radioed to the 18 wheeler just ahead of him to warn him of the car comming at a high rate of speed. But before he could get all the info out to the other the mustang hit the back of the 2nd 18 wheeler, tore the rear axel off the trailer, the passenger flew out of the car over the 18 wheeler and landed on the freeway and almost got run over by the 18 wheeler they hit. Now the driver way shoved in the back passenger seat of the mustang where his neck was broke and his throut was slashed open from the impact, the alt. was between his legs and it tore his privit parts to shredds. The speedodmer was locked at 120 mph. Both lost their lives because of speeding. What if one is careful while they speed? I’ve sped several times on the interstate, and never come close to hurting anybody because of my speed. Speeding doesn’t always equate to wreckless driving.
You just said SPEEDING was a sin, you did not say in what circumstances. You made a general statement about speeding and sin.Now that’s, excuse me, just plain silly. You seem to be casting about to make people agree with you that pot is morally OK. You won’t get that agreement from me. Best save the wear and tear on your hands.
Blessed MMXI and ICXC NIKA!
Not the same, but yes, some risk. It’s written on the ticket. You just said SPEEDING was a sin, you did not say in what circumstances. You made a general statement about speeding and sin.
Yes the Nascar drivers do assume the risks. But the spectators do not assume the same risks.
Yes, those who drive do, but people walking or standing around, do NOT.Oh but yes the general public does assume some risks while driving on the road and yes they do agree to those risks. Everytime you get behind the wheel of a car and drive on the roads you are agreeing and assume risks.
Hi thoughtfulne,I have a priest who believes that the use of marijuana is a “serious sin” because 1.) It is harmful to the body 2.) It “damages” the mind and 3.) It is illegal
It does not seem as if he has ever smoked pot before.
I take issue with this because 1.) One can vaporize the marijuana and eliminate all or nearly all harmful effects (cigars, cigarettes, pipes and alcohol do far more damage, so this argument fails) 2.) It doesn’t “damage” the mind or cause one to lose their reason any more than moderate alcohol use, which is not sinful, so the argument fails there. 3.) It is illegal, but unjustly (IMO) and one can grow one’s own in minute amounts so as not to contribute to any real crime other than the growth and private use of a plant…if caught by the authorities, such a crime would be a misdemeanor and one would pay a fine (so this would be about as serious as deliberately exceeding the speed limit by a few MPH…certainly not grave matter)
Given all of this, I have a very hard time believing that this is truly a serious sin when done only occasionally and in moderation, much like having a few glasses of wine, without the hangover.
The priest told me this after my absolution at confession (during which I did confess to over-doing it sometimes in terms of alcohol and to occasional marijuana use) and honestly, i cannot say that I am resolved never to smoke marijuana again because I do not believe it to be a serious sin any more than a bit of alcohol is.
Frankly, I cannot say that I will never get a little tipsy again either. Keep in mind that I would not do any of these things to the point of losing my reason or self-control or committing a mortal sin as a result.
So my question is this: Is my confession still valid even though I am not firmly resolved never to smoke a bit or get a buzz on now and again?
Is smoking marijuana truly a mortal sin or is this just the opinion of one priest who has no expertise on the matter?
You assume risks when you step outside. Not the same, but yes, some risk. It’s written on the ticket.
Yes, those who drive do, but people walking or standing around, do NOT.

Actually I am the same: I cant stand the taste of Alcohol. Nor the affects especially when i did not have much sleep. When i took a bit of speed to wake me up. I seemed to enjoy the alcohol. I remember Once doing this and drank quite a lot of whisky. I felt absolutely great and only slightly tipsy. Then i made a big mistake and rolled a Joint. This took away the affects of speed and all that drink i had suddenly doubled. What a Nightmare. One quickly learns to check themselves as they smoke to avoid overdoing it. I’ve overdone it and it’s not pretty, believe me. Also, yes, if one is buying street weed, one day you may get “stress” (weak, ditch weed) and the next you may get “chronic” (decent mid-level weed) and on a rare occasion you may get the “OG Kush” (potent, high-end weed).
Personally, I go to a legal dispensary and have found that I get what I pay for in terms of quality and quantity. In fact, I only by it in half-eighths because if I buy a full eighth, it dries up and I have to use more to get the same medicinal effect. On the up-side, that means that I get to visit the nice people at the local dispensary more often (they really are nice folk).
Which is why I would never, ever recommend mixing alcohol and weed. Actually, I would never recommend mixing alcohol or weed with anything else.
Actually there is a Greek word {Pharmakeia} It is to do with sourcery and whitchcraft. So christians are claiming the word pharmacy is linked to this word. I am doing a study on it at the momment.I’m currently reading through the bible for the first time in years… I’ve not yet seen the caveat about prescription drugs.
