Occult website that knows everything about you

Is it possible?

A sweet friend of mine came across this today. The website was able to answer immediately any question she asked, and knew of secrets and private information. As soon as she realized the source was demonic, she got off the computer.

My young friend is a faithful Catholic.

What can I tell her? Should she ask for a special blessing from her priest tomorrow?

I’m too afraid to go looking for this website as it seems to be totally demonic in origin and power.

My friend is concerned, and so am I.

Stay away from the website, yes, the occult is wrong and evil no matter what form it’s in… Say a prayer to St Michael if you feel uneasy. Have friend go to confession if she did something purposely sinful by going on that site…Stay close to God through prayer and Sacraments…

We did talk about whether she needed to go to confession or not, but she said as soon as she realized it was demonic, she left the computer and went outside. Still she feels a need to see a priest.
I don’t blame her. I’m pretty freaked out too.

Sounds like it’s something she just stumbled on innocently, but probably would be good idea and she will probably feel better after talking to a priest…the internet is full of a lot of good things, but I am sure there’s lots of weird stuff out there too…

Here are two important questions:
  1. Was she alone at the time?
  2. Was the personal information secret, or could someone else have known it?
If yes to either it could have been a hoax.

Regardless if hoax or not, occult is sinful and we shouldn’t be messing around in it…
 
JUST in case anyone is concerned,

Don’t be alarmed by post #6 by “Tsuzuki”. He posted a widget which mirrors back to you (and *only you) *your ISP address and your approximate location.

Each person who views that post see something different, their own information, so no one can see your information.

This is what is known among observers as a “cheap parlor trick.”

I agree about not messing around with anything occult, but the website itself may be just a joke/prank website, not an occult website. Graceandglory’s friend felt like it was occult, but it may not have been. We don’t know if the website represented itself as an occult website or not.

I recall a prank website like this from college last year. It might have just been that, and it works like this:
  1. Person visits site, presses a secret key.
  2. Person types in personal info or answer, but the site makes it look like “Please answer the following question.” is being typed.
  3. Person hits secret key again, then types out the question being asked.
  4. Person hits go. The site shows the answer. Site looks smart, but it was really just showing what the person actually typed.
EDIT: And if the person doesn’t know about the secret key, it says it can’t answer you. 🤷
 
Can you send me a link to the site mentioned in the OP I’d like to see if it is real or a prank site.
 
Rather than washing her soul (though that is always a good idea) the more appropriate response in this case would be to have your friend wash her computer.

I certainly won’t deny the existence of the occult, but I’ve done a decent amount of research into it, and I’ve never even heard of a case where supernatural influences could be embedded into a piece of software, much less a website, which is even more restricted in its functioning.

The far more likely scenario here is that the website was able to read some information off of your friend’s computer and then spit it back at her.

The worst case scenario is that the website actually installed some type of software onto her computer without her knowledge (could be a tracking cookie, a keylogger, a trojan, or another type of virus). Again, that is not supernatural or occult - it’s just a security hole in her Internet browser.

I would recommend that if she suspects something like that might have occurred, she scan her computer with anti-virus/anti-spyware software. Unlike computer programs with occult foundations, spyware actually does exist, and it is possible for it to be installed simply by visiting a website made by an unscrupulous individual.
 
I’m not sure if this is the OP’s site, but it IS a prank site which does exactly what was described. I’m erring on the thought that it’s a prank, since your friend was the one asking things and since she obviously knew about it but didn’t know it was “demonic” at first.

I went to the website asked it if it was demonic or a hoax. It told me it was a hoax. Hope this helps.

I keep asking her if it was a prank, this is the month of Halloween, etc, someone could have set her up. She was with friends, actually a friend from church. The information was not something she ever entered. These were high schoolers. The word “TAROT” was on the background of the webpage, and she didn’t know what it meant.

I asked how she got to the site, she said it was a link from something a friend sent to her.

I said, don’t be opening anymore links you get from that friend.

I wish for her sake it was a hoax.
She insists it couldn’t have been. The questions were silly, even down to what color is your underwear.

I think it was a case of good kids treading in dangerous water.

I have always believed that the occult was evil.
God has always kept me from dabbling in it.

When I was in Catholic school, I spent the night with a classmate who brought out a Ouija board.

With the “wisdom” of a 13 yr old, I said I didn’t want to play.
Like I said, God has always kept me from any dabbling.

I have seen a demon possessed person in my street ministry many years ago. It’s real stuff.

I wish for this young person that it was a joke. Just a very clever set up.

It scared her, so she got off the computer and went outside.

She wasn’t alone. She was at a friend’s house.
Her friend she was with could have known the information, but not that she would have asked those questions.

Trust me, we really wish it were a hoax.

Her friend was just as scared.

She said that the computer generated questions that were pertaining only to her.

What was Adam and Eve’s sin in the garden?
Wanting to have the knowledge of God?

Didn’t the serpent say,

** "You won’t die! God knows very well that when you eat it you will become like Him - you will know good from evil!**

As soon as they ate from the tree of knowledge, they died spiritually.

God said,*** “you mustn’t eat of it or even touch it.”***

I would be interested in a discussion along this line.

If it’s not a hoax, what is it then?
The information wasn’t (name removed by moderator)ut into a computer anywhere before.

If it’s demonic in origin, HOW?

This young lady didn’t know how to recognize occult by seeing it. Only after “playing with it” for a few moments did she realize there was an eerie sense that it was powerful, and she knew it wasn’t God’s power.

She did ask me what “TAROT” meant. She said the word “TAROT” was on the screen.

I don’t know the website, and I do not want my own computer doing a search for it.

Sorry I can’t be of help there.
