Oct. 13, 1917 - 6th Apparition of Mary at Fatima

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today is the Anniversary of the “Miracle of the sun” which occurred at the 6th Apparition - Oct. 13, 1917 in Fatima. Pope Benedict XVI, in his homily at Fatima on May 13, 2010 said:

…We would be mistaken to think that Fatima’s prophetic mission is complete. Here there takes on new life the plan of God which asks humanity from the beginning: “Where is your brother Abel …] Your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!” (Gen 4:9). Mankind has succeeded in unleashing a cycle of death and terror, but failed in bringing it to an end… In sacred Scripture we often find that God seeks righteous men and women in order to save the city of man and he does the same here, in Fatima, when Our Lady asks: “Do you want to offer yourselves to God, to endure all the sufferings which he will send you, in an act of reparation for the sins by which he is offended and of supplication for the conversion of sinners?” (Memoirs of Sister Lúcia, I, 162).

At a time when the human family was ready to sacrifice all that was most sacred on the altar of the petty and selfish interests of nations, races, ideologies, groups and individuals, our Blessed Mother came from heaven, offering to implant in the hearts of all those who trust in her the Love of God burning in her own heart. At that time it was only to three children, yet the example of their lives spread and multiplied, especially as a result of the travels of the Pilgrim Virgin, in countless groups throughout the world dedicated to the cause of fraternal solidarity. May the seven years which separate us from the centenary of the apparitions hasten the fulfilment of the prophecy of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity.

In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and it will be converted and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world.

"In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be kept.

It has been over 30 years since St John Paul 2 consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We have had relative peace since the fall of communism in 1991 but many saints point to communism covering the entire word before the end.There is supposed to be a final unleashing of evil against the Church according to the catechism.

Very little religious freedom in these countries (several years back, we had a Deacon from Vietnam in my parish. Our bishop had helped him get to the USA and freedom - he had never been able to be ordained a priest. He is now a priest in my diocese.)

With ISIS and other terrorist groups around, we don’t have 100% peace.

And Russia was able to spread her errors to: Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, China, and Laos with some others currently being near the edge by being socialist…we still have A LOT OF work to do. Very little religious freedom in these countries (several years back, we had a Deacon from Vietnam in my parish. Our bishop had helped him get to the USA and freedom - he had never been able to be ordained a priest. He is now a priest in my diocese.)

Well, we didn’t suffer Nuclear War and the Cold War ended its fiercest era. So Communism come to a stand still in the more immediately threatening ways in regards to the West.

I don’t know if the threat now is communism as much as the cause is satan, generally, using every anti-Christ means at his disposal.

Yes, the Consecration has been made, and we read in the Catechism of the Catholic Church of the final days, yet, I think the Theological Commentary written by then Cardinal Ratzinger as Prefect of the CDF – now Pope Emeritus ( Benedict XVI) gives the best interpretation of Mary’s prophetic words:

…I would like finally to mention another key expression of the “secret” which has become justly famous: “my Immaculate Heart will triumph”. What does this mean? The Heart open to God, purified by contemplation of God, is stronger than guns and weapons of every kind. The fiat of Mary, the word of her heart, has changed the history of the world, because it brought the Saviour into the world—because, thanks to her Yes, God could become man in our world and remains so for all time. The Evil One has power in this world, as we see and experience continually; he has power because our freedom continually lets itself be led away from God. But since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this: “In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33). The message of Fatima invites us to trust in this promise.

Thanks for your reply. EWTN has many good resources. I’m not sure which program you may have watched but EWTN is pretty reliable. Some programs may be better than others, but any I’ve watched have been good. See also my reply to cjfor Jesus and the link in that post on the Message of Fatima.

Thanks for your reply. The evil one will continue to “prowl around seeking whom he may devour” as God’s Word tells us (1 Peter 5:8). Nevertheless, Mary’s prophetic promise remains true. Her Immaculate Heart will triumph. As I pointed out to cjforJesus, in my reply I think the Theological Commentary on the Message of Fatima, written by then Cardinal Ratzinger – now Pope Emeritus (Benedict XVI) remains for me the best interpretation of Mary’s words. In concluding his Commentary he wrote:

It seems to me, because Mary’s heart is eternally united with God’s Heart, He gives humankind hope through her. Jesus came through Mary and overcame the world. In the world we continue to have tribulation but we can, as Jesus tells us, take heart in His Victory. Mary simply repeats His Word to us, and we can trust in His Promise! I’m reminded also of Pope St. John Paul II’s words to the Servant of God, Frank Duff: “Remember, Victory will come through Mary”. In both instances we are speaking of the Final Victory at the end of time, but also in the smaller victories over sin which each of us must wage until the end of our individual lives.
