Odd question for Mormons

Served in Honduras. I am glad you have now limited your comments to mostly training as a missionary.

District Meetings did not involve training. We only had a maybe 4 zone meetings. Nothing to really complain about, as your post indicated.

Priesthood meetings were not true training, though, if you want to stretch the truth a tad, you could call them training, I guess.

Based on your tone, perhaps your ward had specific training in sarcasm? I had hoped you would be a Mormon who would not resort to that.

Nah, he came back and revealed himself to bunches of people, the apostles continued teaching new doctrine all the way through revelations. Then it mysteriously stopped for some reason. :confused:

I could be misunderstanding what you are saying.

Limited to my mission? PEC, EQP et al are nearly every week and seem like they’ll never end. The Church Education System overflows with training for all levels. It’s a very pluralistic system.

My missionary district and zone meetings were heavy on training, studying from the missionary guide, practicing the discussions, and studying gospel topics. I thought it was overwhelming. Still do. I would rather do with less.

Again, not sure you could call most of that training, unless things have changed a lot since I was a missionary, EQ Presidency, Bishopric, etc.

And I did not ever feel the need to complain when it actually WAS training.

But that is just me

And, despite your sarcasm, I have said, and will ALWAYS say, that my mission was among the very best time of my life. Doing what I believed was the Lord’s Work every day was awesome. I was 24 when my mission started and 26 when it ended. I baptized people almost every week of my mission. It was a great experience.

So, I would appreciate less sarcasm when referring to it.

For LDS the Church is a giant training facility. Sacrament meeting, Gospel Doctrine, Priesthood, CES, auxillary meetings.

We’re constantly getting trained, it’s one of the major missions of the Church.

hmmmm…

like I said…I can see where one would call a lot of what goes training…but usually, training is not what occurred. Maybe things have changed.

In my research to be a better LDS Apologist, I discovered teachings and history that destroyed my testimony.

I know I come across pretty strong on these boards…debate does that. But, in all honesty, though I am very much against LDS Doctrine, I LOVED being LDS. I lived the camaraderie, the sense of belonging, and much of what the LDS do. I wish it was true.

After leaving the LDS Church, I wandered around for years looking for the truth. I found it in the Catholic Church.

But, unlike a lot of folks who leave the LDS Church, I do not hate it…despite what one may perceive from my tone in debates.

I have Catholics in my family, and though I have really negative feelings about the Catholic Church, the history and doctrine, I’ve never had a problem with the people. I wish there were easy answers on this subject, but really there aren’t, such is life.

In the other LDS thread you said that you hoped you wouldn’t get in trouble before learning the ropes. If you look at participating here as a game you will probably get in trouble rather quickly.

I took your comment just to mean that you are new here and not that it’s a game. I hope you meant it that way.

When I was LDS, I had a LOT of negative feelings about the Catholic Church. They ere instilled by the LDS Church. Most of what I was taught about Catholics I found to be untrue when I studied the Catholic Church before becoming a member.

I didn’t learn about the murder of some 20,000 Albigensians under the orders of Pope Innocent the III from the LDS Church. For starters.

Would you rather be a black under the priesthood ban or a heretic under PI III?

You sure you wanna get into that aspect? We can talk about MMM. We can talk about Missouri. Trust me…there is a lot of blood on both sides…the only reason there is less blood on LDS hands is because they only come to being in 1800s.

We are much better off talking about doctrine.

in 1989, when I left the LDS Church, Mormons tried to kidnap my children.

I guess bad stuff happens in all religions…right?
