Hello, recently I was thinking I have every reason to jump out of bed every day happy at being alive and having faith.Of course the mood we wake in can be influenced by how we have slept, what we’ve eaten(indigestion!) whether we had enough sleep, hormones etc,and we can work at changing that mood through out the day to being more positive.
Then a few days after thinking about this,I wake in a depressed/sad mood that took three days to shake. It was beyond my control to change even though there was no reason to feel
such sadness.
I felt I wanted to empty myself of my own dismal thoughts and mood and instead fill with God’s love for me,knowing He understood,it seemed to help.
Do you think God allows moods (good and bad) so that we can offer them up?

The New Testament talks about several Moods, and Jesus teaches us to be in some of them.

Jesus says that we should be in a Loving Mood as often as possible, for instance.
When I was at the Peak of my Spiritual Life (about 8 years ago), I decided that I would spend as many of my Waking Hours in a Positive Emotion as I could.

I smiled a lot, to feel Joy and Happiness … I thought of Jesus (and the Father, and the Holy Spirit) a lot, and often, to inspire me to become aware of deep Love for God.

Any time I was NOT feeling a Positive Emotion (or, if you will, Mood), I looked at that as a Sin.
This assisted me in banishing many moments when a Negative mood began to settle in.
This “Game” was the source of countless hours of Fun times.

I offered up my Joy to God … I offered up my Happiness … AND, I offered up my annoyance to God … and my fear … and all of my moments of Sadness.

It worked for me.
I hope that offering up your Moods to God can turn into a Fruitful experience for you.
God bless you, and your Moods.
